A Day in the Life:

In the position of Sr Director, EHS, you will Lead our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) strategy, protect our team members, and keep our operations compliant. Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe workplace. A key partner to Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, Marketing, Events, Legal, and a visible leader on the plant floor.

The Impact You'll Make:

  • Develop and execute a multi-year EHS strategy aligned with business growth plans, including new facilities, production lines, and acquisitions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop EHS managers and specialists across production, warehouse, fleet, and delivery operations
  • Own the EHS budget, develop business cases for safety and environmental investments, and report performance, risk, and priorities to executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA, federal OSHA, EPA, and California Environmental Protection Agency requirements, including required programs such as IIPP, Heat Illness Prevention, and Workplace Violence Prevention (SB 553).
  • Direct EHS audits, inspections, regulatory agency interactions, and continuous improvement activities across all operations.
  • Lead critical safety programs covering chemical handling, confined space, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, conveyors, packaging lines, powered industrial trucks, forklifts, and warehouse traffic.
  • Partner with Fleet and Logistics on DOT compliance, driver safety, delivery route risk, and overall transportation safety.
  • Reduce ergonomic, material handling, and other workplace injuries through risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Partner with Quality, Food Safety, HR, and the insurance broker on sanitation chemicals, allergen controls, FSMArelated requirements, workers’ compensation claims, and loss-cost reduction.
  • Build a culture of accountability and employee engagement through multilingual communication and training, while tracking leading and lagging indicators—including TRIR, DART, near misses, and workers’ compensation costs to drive measurable improvement.

Who You Are:

  • Prefer a Bachelor's Degree in the field of Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field
  • Additional Experience Desired: More than 10 years of experience in progressive EHS Experience
  • Additional Experience Desired: More than 5 years of experience in Senior Leadership
  • Computer Skills Desired: Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency. Familiarity with EHS platforms.
  • Preferred Certifications: Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA and California environmental regulations
  • Additional Knowledge or Skills to be Successful in this role: Experience in food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, or similar high-volume manufacturing and distribution. Proven record of reducing injury rates and improving compliance outcomes. Experience leading multi-site EHS programs. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse, bilingual workforce (Spanish proficiency a plus).

Monster Energy provides competitive total compensation. The estimated annual salary range for this position is listed below. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.

Pay Range

$153,750 - $205,000 USD
