Director, Inventory Control

USA - Corona, CA

About Monster Energy:

Forget about blending in. That's not our style. We're the risk takers, the trailblazers, the gamechangers. We're not perfect and we don't pretend to be. We're raw, unfiltered, and a bit unconventional. Our drive is just like our athletes, unrivaled. The power is in your hands to define what success looks like and where you want to take your career. It's not just about what we do, but about who we become along the way. We are much more than a brand here. We are a way of life, a mindset. Join us.

A Day in the Life:

In the position of Director, Inventory Control, you will lead the enterprise Inventory Control function across Monster's manufacturing facilities, co-packer network, warehouses, third-party logistics providers, and distribution centers, with accountability for inventory accuracy, financial integrity, product traceability, and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) control environment over a material balance-sheet asset. Set and execute the inventory control strategy and governance model; own the inventory-related financial controls, close and audit processes, and partner with key stakeholders to improve working-capital performance, system-of-record integrity, and inventory health. Build and lead a multi-site team through managers, establishing scalable, standardized processes, and a culture of accountability that supports growth across the network.

The Impact You'll Make:

Inventory Control Strategy & Governance:

  • Set the 2-3 year inventory control strategy, operating model, and governance framework across manufacturing, co-packer, warehouse, 3PL, and distribution center operations. Establish and maintain enterprise policies, standards, approval matrices, and segregation-of-duties for inventory adjustments, write-offs, and transfers, and ensure consistent adoption and compliance across every site and partner.

Financial Controls, Close & Audit:

  • Own the design and operating effectiveness of inventory-related SOX key controls.
  • Lead book-to-physical reconciliation, inventory adjustment review and approval, and month/quarter-end close activities; partner with Accounting on excess & obsolete (E&O) and obsolescence reserves, standard cost and inventory valuation variances, and shrink accounting.
  • Serve as the primary business owner for internal and external audit of inventory.

Third-Party, Consigned & In-Transit Inventory:

  • Govern inventory held outside company control; raw materials and packaging at co-packers, consigned and vendor managed stock, 3PL-held finished goods, intercompany and in-transit inventory, and the hand-off to bottler/distributor partners.
  • Define contractual count and reporting requirements, variance tolerances, shrink claims and chargeback processes, and partner Service Level Agreement (SLA) scorecards and drive resolution of partner variances and recoveries.

Product Integrity, Traceability & Recall Readiness:

  • Own shelf-life and code-date management (First Expired, First Out [FEFO] rotation, aged-inventory identification and disposition, destruction authorization), lot/batch traceability, and quality hold/release controls in partnership with Quality Assurance.
  • Maintain recall readiness including mock recalls and ensure inventory records meet FSMA 204 traceability requirements.

Performance Management & Analytics:

  • Define and own the enterprise inventory control Key Performance Indicator (KPI) framework and targets; location-level inventory record accuracy (target 99.5%+), cycle-count completion and compliance, shrink as a percentage of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), book-to-physical variance within tolerance, aged/obsolete inventory percentage, and close timeliness.
  • Deliver executive-level dashboards and lead root-cause analysis and corrective-action programs for variances and control failures.

Working Capital & Inventory Health:

  • Partner with Planning/S&OP, Finance, and Manufacturing to improve days inventory outstanding, inventory turns, and slow-moving/obsolete (SLOB) and E&O exposure.
  • Provide the inventory-health visibility, aging analytics, and disposition decisions that complement Planning's ownership of inventory targets and replenishment.

Systems, Master Data & Automation:

  • Own system-of-record integrity for inventory in SAP S/4 HANA (MM/WM/EWM) and Warehouse Management System (WMS) platforms, including inventory master data standards (storage locations, batch management, units of measure), WMS-ERP integration controls, and adoption of barcode/RFID scanning and process automation.
  • Lead the business side of S/4, WMS, and inventory-related technology deployments and enhancements.

Leadership, Talent & Budget:

  • Build, lead, and develop a multi-site inventory control organization through managers, including site and regional inventory control leaders.
  • Create workforce and staffing plans, manage the functional budget, approve hiring, promotion, and reward decisions, and establish standardized playbooks, training, and certification for count and reconciliation teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are:

  • Prefer a Bachelor's Degree in the field of Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance/Accounting, Operations Management, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • More than 10 years of experience in Progressive inventory control, supply chain, or manufacturing finance leadership in food & beverage or CPG manufacturing, including multi-site operations and a copacker/3PL network, within a SOX-controlled public-company environment.
  • Must include at least one enterprise ERP/WMS transformation (SAP S/4 HANA preferred).
  • More than 7 years of experience in Leading leaders: managing multi-site teams through subordinate managers, with workforce planning, budget/P&L accountability, and demonstrated success building or scaling
    a function.
  • Computer Skills Desired: Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel). Barcode/RFID and mobile scanning technologies knowledge and hands-on experience with SAP S/4 and WMS implementations. SAP S/4 HANA (MM/WM/EWM) and SAP ECC, SAP IBP, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Power BI and advanced analytics.
  • Preferred Certifications: ASCM/APICS CPIM or CSCP (CLTD a plus); Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred (Green Belt minimum); CPA or CMA considered in lieu of supply chain certification for finance-oriented candidates.
  • Additional Knowledge or Skills to be Successful in this role: Experience with manufacturing and co-packer sites, warehouses/DCs/3PLs, SOX inventory controls and audit management, co-packer and 3PL inventory governance, shelflife, lot traceability, recall readiness (FSMA 204), and working-capital and SLOB/E&O management.
