Senior Full Stack Engineer

Hybrid, New York City

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who will be one of the first technical hires at Monstro. This is a pivotal opportunity to lay the technical foundation of our platform, shape the overall core architecture, and become a founding member of our engineering team. You’ll work closely with our design, product, and executive teams to translate vision into scalable solutions, define technical requirements, and make critical decisions on Monstro’s technical stack, infrastructure, and security.

Your responsibilities will include leveraging our design prototypes and collaborating with subject matter experts to build and optimize both Monstro’s consumer web app and our institution platform. While this is a full stack role, we are particularly interested in engineers who are comfortable across the stack and able to support front-end development as needed. You’ll also play a key role in integrating AI-driven functionality, working with Product Owners to align technical requirements with product and business goals.

The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, enjoys tackling complex challenges, and is passionate about building innovative technology that disrupts traditional financial systems. This role offers significant ownership, the ability to directly influence the product roadmap, and the chance to grow into a technical leadership position as Monstro scales.

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.) with full stack development experience.
    • Strong capability in front-end development and UI execution for web-based applications, or readiness to work across front-end as needed.
    • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), including experience with global deployments, scaling, and DevOps practices.
    • Strong expertise in database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and API integrations, with a focus on performance optimization and reliability.
    • Experience working with data pipelines, AI/ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), and advanced analytics tools is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with security best practices, especially in fintech or other highly regulated industries.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach.
