Head of Engineering

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a VP of Engineering to lead the technical development of Monstro’s transformative, AI-native platform. This is a senior, highly strategic role where you’ll shape the technology vision and roadmap while also ensuring world-class execution. You’ll be responsible for building scalable, secure infrastructure that supports both B2B and B2C product lines, while driving innovation in how we integrate AI into every layer of the product.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders in product, data, and design to ensure that our platform not only meets the needs of our users and institutional clients but also sets a new standard in banktech.

As the Head of Engineering, you’ll not only ship products from 0→1, but also build the systems, documentation, and processes to scale them globally. You’ll lead and grow a team of AI and software engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, velocity, and continuous improvement. From architecting data-driven applications to organizing best-in-class sprints and agile practices, you’ll ensure Monstro’s engineering org becomes a benchmark for speed and quality. 

This role demands both vision and discipline - balancing long-term strategy with near-term execution, partnering closely with leaders in product, design, and data to build technology that reshapes personal finance and sets a new standard for the industry.

Responsibilities

• Define & Execute Technical Strategy: Own Monstro’s technical roadmap, balancing near-term delivery with long-term scale. Ensure our infrastructure is robust, secure, and optimized for both consumer and institutional products.
• Ship 0→1 and Beyond: Drive the end-to-end process of taking products from concept to launch, then scaling them into enterprise-grade solutions.
• Lead AI Engineering: Manage, mentor, and grow AI/ML engineers while embedding AI deeply into Monstro’s products. Ensure we ship applied AI at scale, not just prototypes.
• Architect Scalable Systems: Build infrastructure that supports integrations, real-time analytics, personalization, and global compliance.
• Build and Scale the Team: Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent. Set up org structure, career ladders, and operating principles for a high-performing, motivated team.
• Drive Engineering Excellence: Establish best practices for documentation, CI/CD pipelines, code quality, testing, and system reliability.
• Champion Agile Execution: Design and run best-in-class sprint rituals, ensuring velocity, adaptability, and alignment across the org.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, design, and data leaders to prioritize features, align execution, and deliver user and business impact.
• Ensure Security & Compliance: Build with trust at the core - meeting global security, privacy, and financial compliance standards

Qualifications

• 12+ years of engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership, ideally in fintech, AI/ML, or other high-scale industries.
• Proven track record shipping products from 0→1 and scaling into globally reliable platforms.
• Direct experience managing AI/ML engineering teams and building AI-driven products at scale.
• Strong technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, APIs, distributed systems, and modern backend/frontend stacks (e.g., Python, Java, etc.).
• Deep experience with agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD, and creating engineering processes that make teams faster.
• Deep understanding of data privacy and security best practices, especially within the financial services industry.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to inspire teams and drive technical vision.
