Senior Frontend Engineer

New York City, Hybrid

About Monstro

Monstro is the operating system for governed financial intelligence. We build governance and intelligence infrastructure that enables artificial intelligence to operate safely, explainably, and at institutional scale.

We exist because the level of financial guidance historically available to a small group should be accessible to many more people. By combining AI with deep institutional infrastructure, we help financial institutions deliver more personalized, responsible, and life-changing financial support to millions of individuals.

We’re building mission-critical systems in a highly regulated domain, and we care deeply about doing it right. If you’re motivated by meaningful problems, high standards, and shaping infrastructure that improves financial outcomes, you’ll feel at home here.

We're building a next-generation financial management platform for banks, and we're looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to help us create a number of user interfaces supporting our clients and operations. You'll shape how everyday customers interact with their finances through sophisticated AI-driven tools, delivering interfaces that are intuitive, performant, and built to the standards the financial industry demands.

What You'll Do

Responsive Product Development in an AI-powered workflow

  • Build and own features across our React applications, delivering polished experiences for our users and clients. Ensure the product feels native and responsive across different viewports, while maintaining a shared codebase. Utilise the latest AI powered tools (e.g. Claude) in your workflow, from design to build to deployment.

Frontend Architecture

  • Drive architectural decisions for our frontend stack—component structure, state management, navigation patterns, and API integration strategies. Establish patterns and abstractions that balance developer velocity with long-term maintainability.

Quality & Test-Driven Development

  • Champion a test-driven development culture. Design and implement comprehensive testing strategies spanning unit, integration, and end-to-end tests. Ensure the codebase remains reliable and regression-free as we scale.

Accessibility

  • Ensure our application meets accessibility standards, making our product usable for all users regardless of ability. Advocate for inclusive design practices throughout the development process.

Build & Delivery Pipeline

  • Work with build tooling, bundlers, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth, reliable releases. Collaborate with platform engineers to optimize build times, automate quality gates, and streamline the path to production.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Partner with designers to translate vision into implementation and with backend teams to define effective API contracts. Mentor other engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance, raising frontend standards across the organization.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of professional frontend development experience
  • Strong proficiency in React and Typescript with production web-app experience
  • An appreciation of UX and the creative process
  • Solid grasp of modern CSS, responsive design principles, and accessibility standards
  • Experience with test-driven development and frontend testing frameworks
  • Contributions to design systems or component libraries
  • Comfortable writing Node.js scripts to support the web-app
  • Confidence working with APIs and understanding backend services and system integrations.
  • Comfortable working with build tooling, bundlers, and CI/CD integration
  • Clear communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment

Nice to Have

  • Backend/API development experience (our backend is primarily Go and a bit of Node.js)
  • Background in fintech or regulated industries
  • Experience implementing multi-language/internationalization support

Why Monstro?

  • Ownership & Impact: Shape the future of AI-powered finance - building a category-defining product used by consumers and institutions around the world.
  • Elite Team: Join a team with leadership that has a track record of scaling companies from early stage to major exits.
  • Principles-Driven Culture: Work in a culture that values speed, ownership, and impact - what most companies achieve in 90 days, we do in 45.
  • Comprehensive Compensation Package: Competitive salary, equity, and robust benefits package, including paid health, vision, dental, and disability coverage.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
