⭐Our Regulatory Affairs team

We’re looking for a pragmatic, organised and personable individual to strengthen our Regulatory Affairs team.

The Regulatory Affairs team is the central team responsible for maintaining open and collaborative relationships with our regulators across the Monzo Group. In the Regulatory Affairs team, you’ll support and strengthen Monzo’s regulatory relationships and work closely with Executives to help shape our vision and regulatory affairs strategy as Monzo continues to grow. You’ll also work closely with our contacts at the Irish and European Regulators (CBI and ECB) and support the wider Regulatory Affairs team with engagement with other relevant Regulators (PRA and FCA), responding to information requests, preparing for meetings and submitting regulatory submissions.

We are on a mission to Make Money Work for Everyone and we’ve grown to over 10 million customers. For Regulatory Affairs this means ensuring our regulators are kept informed, managing regulatory requests and educating colleagues on the regulatory landscape.

We operate a “three lines of defence” model of risk management at Monzo. You’ll be sitting in the second line as part of our Risk and Compliance team, working in the Regulatory Affairs Team.

🔑You’ll play a key role by...

  • Preparing for and facilitating regulator meetings, reviews and requests. Preparation includes working closely with Executives and stakeholders throughout the business to prepare and advise them on how best to meet regulatory expectations.
  • Keeping our regulators up to date with proactive notifications on products and strategic initiatives, as well as leading on regulatory communications during an incident.
  • Owning the governance and tracking of regulatory deliverables, deadlines and activities ensuring stakeholders are held accountable.
  • Taking responsibility for the preparation, submission and management of technically complex regulatory submissions.
  • Working with subject matter experts in Risk and Compliance and across the business to coordinate and prepare for regulatory visits.
  • Preparing data driven reports for the Executives that are clear, concise and informative.
  • Building and enhancing our policies and procedures for engaging with regulators.
  • Being a champion of risk and compliance and building respectful and collaborative relationships with all levels of stakeholders across the business.

🤩We’d love to hear from you if…

  • You have proven experience in a regulatory affairs role at an Irish/European regulated financial services firm or at an Irish or European financial services regulator
  • Have knowledge of CBI and/or ECB regulatory and supervisory obligations
  • A deep understanding of managing relations with important external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects to short deadlines
  • A critical thinker and not afraid to challenge
  • Self-motivated, highly organised and focused on executing well
  • Enjoys collaborating as a team and is able to work independently with changing priorities
  • Have a genuine interest in the regulated financial services environment and how it is changing

Making Monzo work for everyone starts right at the beginning of every Monzonaut's journey: when they apply to work here. This demographic survey will help us better understand the people who apply to work at Monzo. It'll help us see how different groups progress through our hiring process, and where we need to make improvements to be more inclusive. If you choose to fill it out, all of the information you give us is:

  • Voluntary. And we've included a "prefer not to say" option for every question. It'd be helpful if you still fill out the survey even if you choose "prefer not to say" for every question, as it's useful for us to understand & record this. We won't know if you choose to fill this survey in or not.
  • Anonymous to Monzo. We can't tie your responses to you and they won't make a difference to the outcome of your application. We'll only use grouped responses for equal opportunities monitoring in our hiring process.

By filling out this survey, you agree that we can use your responses for the purposes we've mentioned above. You are not letting us know if we need to make any adjustments to the hiring process because of disability or neurodiversity - to do this please email us.
