⭐️ Our Risk and Controls team
Like any other regulated bank, we need to make sure we are managing our risks and controls, and are fully compliant with regulation. But at Monzo, we want to do so while continuing with our agile “test and learn” approach to launching products our customers love. We are looking for a Risk & Controls Manager to help us further embed our shipping and product change management controls across the bank.

- Innovating and improving on the effectiveness of our existing change governance processes to ensure they work for Monzo’s new product types and geographies.
- Coordinating product governance and oversight meetings.
- Iterating and reporting product change MI for an executive audience, including upcoming releases, and collaborating with risk partners to assess appropriate governance levels for major product milestones.
- Overseeing change training programs, ensuring Monzonauts are adequately trained in change management practices
- Coordinating and supporting product squads and risk partners in “business as usual” activities to comply with our product governance framework
- Supporting Monzo in developing and enhancing controls that protect our customer and business needs now and in the future
- Ensuring the first line proactively consider and incorporate the Consumer Duty, as well as any other relevant regulations, in our products and features as well as supporting proposals
- Embedding robust regulatory, conduct, and operational risk practices into a risk-driven culture
- Fostering positive and collaborative relationships across the three lines of defence
- Ensuring governance-related requirements are met
🤩We’d love to hear from you if…
- You have hands-on, practical experience with:
- Designing and implementing change initiatives in large, complex financial institutions.
- Identifying iterative improvements for product change management
- Organising and managing risk governance meetings / committees, and collating data and writing supporting commentary for an executive audience

- You have considerable risk and control experience with consumer financial products in a regulated environment
- You can apply a data led approach to risk management and assessment
- You’re excited about helping Monzo scale in a compliant, thoughtful, and controlled way
- You’re resilient and comfortable working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment where the day-to-day job is constantly evolving and changing
- You are a self-starter, and able to work independently and make prioritisation decisions
