⭐ Our Finance team
We're looking for a highly proactive, enthusiastic and commercially-minded Treasury product control analyst to join our Financial reporting & control team. This role would be well suited to a qualified, or soon to qualify, accountant looking for a first-time move from practice to industry who has an understanding of Treasury products in the context of a banking environment. This understanding includes but is not exhaustive to Treasury investment securities, derivative instruments (interest rate swaps and FX forwards), hedge accounting and financial reporting.
We have some really exciting challenges coming up like systems implementation, expanding into the European Union, continuing to grow our customer base, keep growing our lending business and adding to our marketplace. This all leads to exciting Treasury activity to support this growth whilst managing risk. You’ll work on scaling Monzo in a controlled way, while helping us optimise our financial control processes with the help of technology. You’ll join the Finance team and report to our Treasury Product Controller.
🔑 You’ll play a key role by...
- Working very closely with our Treasury front office, financial reporting and financial control teams as we continue to build our treasury product control capabilities in Finance.
- Taking ownership of the end-to-end control processes on Treasury products. This includes:
- Independent trade confirmation for all Treasury deals booked in our Treasury Management System (TMS)
- Daily collateral management for our derivative and REPO portfolios
- Daily profit and loss reporting on Treasury income to CFO/Treasuer
- Valuation controls around Treasury financial instrument pricing
- Managing the Treasury month-end process, including derivatives and hedge accounting processes.
- Maintaining existing and developing new treasury related internal controls that protect our financial data and our balance sheet substantiation process, working with 2LoD and 3LoD along the way.
- Supporting our year end processes, preparing Treasury related disclosures, dealing with external audit queries and ad hoc assistance on non-Treasury related aspects of the cycle.
- Understanding the Treasury business and their products to write insightful management commentary on results.
- Reviewing new Treasury products, assessing and determining the accounting treatment before implementing the GL configuration mapping in our TMS.
- Assisting with the implementation of our new accounting system, from a Treasury perspective, to make sure we are taking advantage of all its features to minimise manual elements of reporting.
- Working with our engineers and data teams to automate the production elements of this role, allowing you to focus on the parts of the role where your knowledge and skills provide the most value.
- Learning SQL skills to run reports and propose solutions that make our processes efficient and scalable.
- Ad hoc support on non-Treasury related initiatives.
🤩 We’d love to hear from you if…
- You’re a qualified, or soon to qualify, accountant and have knowledge and/or understanding of Treasury products in a banking context.
- You have a great eye for detail and a thirst to learn, which sees you develop into the subject matter for all things Treasury.
- You’re fascinated by the banking and regulatory landscape, and have a good understanding of key internal controls.
- You’re a self-starter and enjoy tackling what needs doing, whether it’s confirming trade accuracy or pulling together complex disclosures in a simplified way for derivatives in our annual report.
- You’re comfortable translating complex information into simple words for people with diverse backgrounds.
- You’re interested in using data (SQL skills would be a bonus).
- You thrive in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment.
- What we’re doing at Monzo excites you!
