Today, it's an award-winning service, empowering over 600,000 businesses across the UK. In October, we opened our doors to bigger small businesses, ushering in the next phase of our mission to make money work for businesses

The role

We’re looking for a strategic, commercially-minded leader to help shape the future of Business Banking at Monzo. As part of the leadership team, you’ll define our long-term commercial vision and drive high-impact outcomes across our products and go-to-market strategies. You'll play a critical role in building and scaling products that bring the magic of Monzo to more businesses than ever before.

This is a high-ownership, high-impact role, ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, is fuelled by strategic thinking, and is comfortable operating in a fast-moving, often ambiguous environment.

🔑 You’ll play a key role by…

  • Owning The Commercial Picture: You'll be the driving force behind our Business Banking planning and performance, from initial forecasting, to supporting critical strategic decisions. You’ll craft a clear commercial strategy across channels, products, and markets for Business Banking.
  • Navigating Our Strategic Course: You'll constantly monitor the effectiveness of our initiatives and our financial performance, using data to adapt our strategies and ensure we're always on the right track.
  • Defining Our Business Banking Strategic & Commercial Future: Partnering closely with your counterparts in Business Banking and across Monzo, you'll lead the charge on shaping our long-term Business Banking product strategy with your commercial input, including:
    • Developing compelling business cases for product expansion and distribution initiatives.
    • Crafting pricing strategies and business models for our products.
    • Making key build/partner decisions for vital product lines and features.
    • Presenting and gaining alignment on our strategy at senior forums (including ExCo and the Board).
    • Supporting sales and partnerships led initiatives to accelerate growth.
  • Taking ideas from zero to one: You'll own the initial phases of new product and commercial initiatives.

🤩We’d love to hear from you if…

  • Extensive Commercial Leadership Experience: You have a strong track record of defining & successfully delivering commercial success for a business line and evaluating new business ideas. You have significant experience in a high-growth startup/scale-up with P&L accountability, owning commercial and strategic decisions  (e.g. leading a product line and growing it).
  • Strategic Acumen: You have a deeply strategic mind, capable of seeing the bigger picture, thinking in systems, and anticipating future trends.
  • Exceptional Problem-Solving Skills: Your "superpower" is solving complex problems with analytical rigor, commercial viability, and execution certainty.
  • Adaptability & Ownership: You’re a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, adept at navigating complex, rapidly evolving environments, and driven by impact and ownership.
  • Collaboration & Influencing Without Authority: You have an exceptional ability to connect the dots across different parts of the business, foster collaboration, and drive decisions without authority.
  • Industry Expertise: You have experience building & growing business products or building financial and software products in a high growth company
  • You are humble but excited by what we’re doing at Monzo

We legally have to verify your Right to Work in the UK before you can start working for us. We're asking for this information now so we know later what type of right to work check we need to do. Your answer to this question won't affect the outcome of your application, unless you'd need visa sponsorship but are applying to a role we can't sponsor.

👤 Identity survey

Our goal at Monzo is to make money work for everyone. To do that, working at Monzo must work for everyone. We want to create an equitable, engaged and innovative workplace which gives people from all backgrounds the support they need to thrive and grow.

Making Monzo work for everyone starts right at the beginning of every Monzonaut's journey: when they apply to work here. This demographic survey will help us better understand the people who apply to work at Monzo. It'll help us see how different groups progress through our hiring process, and where we need to make improvements to be more inclusive. If you choose to fill it out, all of the information you give us is:

  • Voluntary. And we've included a "prefer not to say" option for every question. It'd be helpful if you still fill out the survey even if you choose "prefer not to say" for every question, as it's useful for us to understand & record this. We won't know if you choose to fill this survey in or not.
  • Anonymous to Monzo. We can't tie your responses to you and they won't make a difference to the outcome of your application. We'll only use grouped responses for equal opportunities monitoring in our hiring process.

For more information on how we'll use this data, please read our candidate privacy notice.

By filling out this survey, you agree that we can use your responses for the purposes we've mentioned above. You are not letting us know if we need to make any adjustments to the hiring process because of disability or neurodiversity - to do this please email us.
