📍London or Remote (UK) | 💰Competitive base salary and stock options | Benefits

At Monzo, our mission is to make money work for everyone, everywhere. We're looking for a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead critical Platform initiatives that underpin everything we build. You'll support two major portfolios: our Data Platform evolution and our Platform resiliency programme. This is a high impact role that benefits from both deep technical understanding and strong cross-team leadership to coordinate horizontal projects across multiple collectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of major platform programs that cross multiple teams and markets
  • Manage complex cross-collective programs:
    • Define program roadmaps and milestones, set priorities, manage trade-offs, identify and manage critical path and risks, ensure alignment with business goals and technical strategy
    • Navigate dependencies, timelines and sequencing across Platform squads and Monzo Collectives
    • Balance technical depth with program breadth - understanding both data infrastructure and distributed systems challenges
  • Drive effective decision making to remove blockers and maintain momentum across long-running infrastructure programmes
  • Shape operational effectiveness and engineering culture, particularly around reliability, incident management readiness, and data governance practices

You should apply if:

  • You have 5+ years of experience managing complex technology programs from inception to launch
  • You can communicate clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, from engineers to executives, translating between technical details and business impact
  • You excel at coordinating work across multiple teams, managing dependencies in complex technical programmes where culture and tooling matter as much as technical changes
  • You build trust and influence without direct authority, and are comfortable constructively challenging technical approaches
  • You're comfortable diving into data, metrics, and technical documentation to make informed decisions in ambiguous situations
  • You have experience driving both technical delivery and organisational change, particularly around infrastructure, system resilience, or data governance

The interview process:

  1. Recruiter Call (30 mins) You'll meet our Engineering Leadership Recruiter to discuss your experience and learn more about Monzo. They'll be your partner and guide throughout the interview process.
  2. Initial Call (45 mins) You'll meet with one of our engineering leaders. They'll ask you about your previous experience, in particular program execution and technical leadership. They’ll also make time to tell you about Monzo and answer your questions.
  3. Loop Stage (3 hours) The Loop stage consists of 3 x 60 min interviews that take place over 1-2 days (depending on your availability).

All things going well, you'll have completed the hiring process 🚀

Our average process takes around 3-4 weeks but we will always work around your availability. You’ll have the chance to speak to our recruitment team throughout the process. If you’d like to ask a question sooner, email tech-hiring@monzo.com

Making Monzo work for everyone starts right at the beginning of every Monzonaut's journey: when they apply to work here. This demographic survey will help us better understand the people who apply to work at Monzo. It'll help us see how different groups progress through our hiring process, and where we need to make improvements to be more inclusive. If you choose to fill it out, all of the information you give us is:

  • Voluntary. And we've included a "prefer not to say" option for every question. It'd be helpful if you still fill out the survey even if you choose "prefer not to say" for every question, as it's useful for us to understand & record this. We won't know if you choose to fill this survey in or not.
  • Anonymous to Monzo. We can't tie your responses to you and they won't make a difference to the outcome of your application. We'll only use grouped responses for equal opportunities monitoring in our hiring process.
