Our UK customers can also save, invest and combine their pensions with us.

With our hot coral cards and get-paid-early feature, combined with financial education on social media and our award winning customer service, we have a long history of creating magical moments for our customers!

We’re not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo ❤️

📍London or Remote (UK) | 💰£78,000 - £98,000 + Benefits |

Monzo is maturing. As we look toward the next phase of our growth, we need to ensure our Marketing engine is fast, effective, and rigorously compliant.

We are looking for a Marketing Governance Lead to own our governance centrally. We need a builder - someone who can execute the day-to-day controls while simultaneously designing the high-level strategy and infrastructure designed to scale globally.

Currently, data compliance and governance can feel decentralised or like a "side job". You will change that. Our Legal and Risk partners are world-class, but they shouldn't be the first people to see a draft campaign. We are looking for a Marketing Governance Lead to be the operational bridge - embedding regulatory expertise directly into our creative process. You will ensure that by the time a project reaches Compliance, it is already rigorous, evidenced, and ready to ship, and will move us from a reactive state to a proactive strategy that unlocks growth.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Governance architecture: You will design the end-to-end governance workflow for marketing approvals alongside our Risk & Control Partners. You will create audit-ready processes and procedures that ensure every campaign is compliant by design.
  • Financial Promotions (FinProms): You will act as the primary responsible owner for adherence to FCA rules. You will own the claims matrix, ensuring every statement we make is substantiated and verifiable.
  • Act as a pre-filter: You will resolve routine FinProms and data questions locally, ensuring we only escalate complex, high-value decisions to our legal, risk and compliance partners.
  • Risk culture: You will help create a healthy risk culture at Monzo. You will help develop training for the marketing team to view compliance not as a blocker, but as a safety rail that allows us to move faster.
  • Consent management: You won't just police permissions; you will develop and implement strategies to increase customer opt-ins. You will treat consent as a product, working to maximise our marketable base and enable personalisation.
  • MarTech: You will act as the business partner for our backend engineering and MarTech teams, defining the requirements and tooling required for handling customer data, preference centres, etc.
  • International expansion: As we expand into Europe, you will lead the regulatory setup for marketing in new geographies. You will navigate wildly varying regulations to build a scalable policy approach for market entry.
  • Third-party & operational control: You will manage the risk lifecycle of our third-party agencies and media vendors, and work closely with the Data Protection Office (DPO) to ensure our CRM programs align with legal standards.

What we’re looking for

  • Regulatory expert: Experience years in governance or risk operations within a regulated environment. You know the regulations that impact marketing teams specifically - and how to apply them pragmatically.
  • Builder mindset:You have a track record of setting up frameworks from scratch. You don't just follow the process; you build systems that work without you.
  • Commercial fluency: You understand that the goal of this role is to unlock safe growth. You can demonstrate how you’ve used compliance to enable business outcomes.
  • The "Translator" skillset: You can translate policy paper and legal recommendations into a one-page "dos and don'ts" guide for a Copywriter or partner agency.
  • Process architecture: You have experience implementing governance tools that make compliance the path of least resistance.
  • Autonomy: You rarely need guidance from others. You can take a high-level goal and deliver the solution end-to-end.
  • Inclusive collaboration:  You can jump into an area of the business and quickly navigate to the root of the problem, bringing in the right people as you go. You’ve worked closely with both marketing and product teams, and know how and when to bring SMEs into your work to ensure better outcomes.

The Interview Process:

Our interview process involves three main stages:

  1. Recruiter Call (30mins)
  2. Initial Call (30mins)
  3. x2 final interviews via Google Meet (x2 45mins)

Our average process takes around 3-4 weeks but we will always work around your availability.

What’s in it for you:

💰Salary is £78,000 - £98,000 ➕ stock options

📍This role will be based out of our London office next to Liverpool Street station in a hybrid approach of office based and home working OR fully remote within the UK

⏰We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, at times that suit you and your team.

📚Learning budget of £1,000 a year for books, training courses and conferences

It'll help us see how different groups progress through our hiring process, and where we need to make improvements to be more inclusive. If you choose to fill it out, all of the information you give us is:

  • Voluntary. And we've included a "prefer not to say" option for every question.
