📍London or Remote (UK)  | 💰 £44,600 to £55,000 + Incentive Awards tied to your performance + Benefits

We’re looking for an Enterprise Risk Analyst to join Monzo!

This is a brilliant chance to get involved in some key areas of risk management at Monzo: strategic risk oversight and our risk frameworks. You'll be right at the heart of how Monzo develops these in a new, global group structure.

You'll report to the Head of Enterprise Risk (part of Group Risk). Your main focus will be understanding and communicating strategic risks, supported by data insights to bring those risks to life. This includes developing strategic risk oversight dashboards that combine internal business data with external macroeconomic signals, making sure the right information is available, accurate and informative to help senior stakeholders make decisions. You will work closely with people across Monzo to make sure insights are delivered clearly and on time for risk governance.

You'll also be key in supporting our risk frameworks and Group Risk processes. This involves setting up the systems, guidelines, and ways of working that help Monzo manage risk effectively. You could be improving our frameworks so they’re more readable and accessible, helping deliver training, or running cross-risk projects.

You’ll need to be confident working with data (for example Google Sheets and data formulas) and you'll be able to turn analysis into clear, practical insight. You will be able to design and help roll out clear, accessible risk management processes for the whole business. Ultimately, your work will be vital in enabling Monzo to continue to manage its risks well for the benefit of our customers.

🔑You’ll play a key role by...

You will be responsible for supporting the implementation and ongoing operation of Monzo’s strategic risk oversight and framework processes. As the role matures, your responsibilities will continue to grow, but will include:

Strategic Risk

  • Develop strategic risk oversight dashboards, building these from scratch and exploring both internal data and external macroeconomic data sources to provide meaningful insight into Monzo’s risk profile.
  • Interpret macroeconomic and external developments (eg interest rates, inflation, geopolitical events, AI trends) and assess their impact on Monzo’s strategic risks.
  • Produce monthly strategic risk oversight reports for our Group Chief Risk Officer
  • Own data quality in strategic risk reports you produce, making sure risk data and formulas are accurate, consistent, and meaningful. You’ll manage issue resolution and enhancement requests from our Group Chief Risk Officer.
  • Carry out deep dive research and analysis into emerging and  strategic risks, translating complex external developments into clear potential impacts
  • Carry out strategic risk oversight reviews, working with our first line colleagues to deliver real insight into how we’re managing strategic risk
  • Look for opportunities to streamline processes, automate tasks, and improve the usability of our risk management frameworks and strategic risk oversight

Frameworks

  • Support the operation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), including preparing materials for Group Executive and Board risk committees
  • Support with cross-functional projects such as our Risk Appetite refresh
  • Create and maintain user-facing documentation, training, and process guidance for our risk frameworks
  • Tackle other ad-hoc tasks to support the Group Risk team on frameworks, systems, and projects

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if…

  • Strong understanding of macroeconomic and external drivers, and how they impact financial services businesses.
  • Comfortable interpreting data and external trends to form risk views, not just reporting them.
  • Experienced in creating macroeconomic monitoring dashboards. You know what 'good' looks like and you’re confident in bringing that expertise to Monzo.
  • Detail-oriented and great with G Suite (especially Gemini, Sheets, Docs, Slides) for building simple, effective solutions.
  • A clear written and verbal communicator who can influence and manage stakeholders at all levels, working effectively across the three lines of defence and always keeping to Monzo's tone of voice.
  • A strategic thinker. You can balance immediate tasks with long-term goals to prioritise effectively.
  • Resilient and comfortable working in a fast paced and ambiguous environment where the day to day job is constantly evolving and changing
  • A team player who can foster positive and collaborative relationships across the three lines of defence
  • A role model for our values and behaviours.

It would be a bonus if you have experience in risk management and / or a degree in economics or similar.
