⭐Our Sustainability team

We’re looking for a Senior Sustainability Manager to help deliver and scale Monzo’s climate and sustainability work. This role sits in our Legal & Governance Collective, reporting to the Sustainability Lead. You’ll focus on turning our sustainability ambitions into practical, high-quality outputs—owning delivery across financed emissions, climate risk, and cross-functional sustainability initiatives.

You’ll work closely with teams across Risk, Finance, Product and Data to embed sustainability into how Monzo operates and grows. This is a role for a high-impact individual who thrives at the intersection of data, finance, and sustainability strategy.

🔑 You’ll play a key role by…

  • Financed emissions: own the development and delivery of Monzo’s financed emissions (Scope 3 Category 15). You’ll establish and improve data collection processes across lending portfolios, apply PCAF methodologies, and continuously refine our approach as standards evolve. You’ll also help embed these insights into internal decision-making.
  • Project Delivery and execution: own end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional sustainability projects. You’ll turn ambiguous goals into clear plans, manage dependencies, unblock teams, and drive high-quality outcomes at pace.
  • Climate risk integration: partner with Risk, Finance, Product and Business teams to embed climate considerations into decision-making across Monzo. Support practical climate risk assessment, including scenario analysis where relevant, and help teams understand how climate risks could impact portfolios, products, customers and wider business strategy.
  • Regulatory & disclosures: support the delivery of high-quality, audit-ready climate disclosures and help Monzo stay close to evolving regulatory and supervisory expectations, including TCFD, ISSB, CSRD and relevant statements from regulators such as the PRA and FCA. Help ensure Monzo’s reporting remains accurate, proportionate and decision-useful.
  • Performance & reporting: devise and track the key metrics that measure our sustainability performance. Prepare insightful reports, management information, and presentations for senior stakeholders, including the Board, to support strategic decision-making.
  • Data & insights: translate sustainability commitments into clear metrics and partner with data teams to build scalable reporting and dashboards. Drive improvements in data quality, traceability, and automation over time.
  • Internal enablement: act as a trusted partner to teams across Monzo - helping them understand the carbon impact of decisions and embedding sustainability into products, lending, and operations..

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if you…..

  • Have hands-on experience in carbon accounting within financial services, including familiarity with PCAF and Scope 3 financed emissions
  • Understand how climate risk can affect financial institutions, and can apply this in practical ways
  • Are comfortable working with data, able to navigate datasets, understand data lineage, and partner effectively with analysts
  • Understand how a bank works and can collaborate effectively with Risk, Finance and Product teams
  • Have a track record of taking complex sustainability problems and turning them into delivered outcomes
  • Are a clear and effective communicator, able to translate technical topics into simple, actionable insights for a range of audiences
  • Build strong relationships and can influence stakeholders across different teams and levels

Personal Attributes:

  • High ownership and bias for action
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and driving progress without perfect information
  • Collaborative, with a focus on shared outcomes
  • Structured thinker with strong attention to detail
  • Curious and adaptable in a fast-changing sustainability and regulatory landscape
