📍London or Remote (UK)  | 💰 £44,600 to £55,000 + Incentive Awards tied to your performance + Benefits

We’re looking for an Enterprise Risk Analyst to join Monzo!

This is a brilliant chance to get involved in strategic risk management at Monzo. You'll be right at the heart of how Monzo develops strategic risk oversight in a new, global group structure.

If you have a background in economics or finance and a couple of years of industry experience, this is a high-visibility opportunity to sit at the intersection of macroeconomic trends, strategic risk, and executive decision-making.

You won’t just be monitoring frameworks—you will actively analyze how shifting macroeconomic forces (e.g., rate cycles, inflation, credit conditions, regulatory shifts) impact Monzo’s strategic roadmap. Reporting directly to the Strategic Risk Director, your analysis and dashboarding will feed directly into the Group Chief Risk Officer, Executive Committee, and Board.

Your main focus will be understanding and communicating strategic risks, supported by data insights to bring those risks to life. This includes developing strategic risk oversight dashboards that combine internal business data with external macroeconomic signals, making sure the right information is available, accurate and informative to help senior stakeholders make decisions. You will work closely with people across Monzo to make sure insights are delivered clearly and on time for risk governance.

You'll also support our risk frameworks and Group Risk processes. This involves setting up the systems, guidelines, and ways of working that help Monzo manage risk effectively. You could be improving our frameworks so they’re more readable and accessible, helping deliver training, or running cross-risk projects.

You’ll need to be confident working with external data (for example analysing macroeconomic data and presenting it in Google Sheets) and you'll be able to turn analysis into clear, practical insight. You will be able to design and help roll out clear, accessible risk management processes for the whole business. Ultimately, your work will be vital in enabling Monzo to continue to manage its risks well for the benefit of our customers.

🔑You’ll play a key role by...

You will be responsible for supporting the implementation and ongoing operation of Monzo’s strategic risk oversight and framework processes. As the role matures, your responsibilities will continue to grow, but will include:

Strategic Risk

  • Connect macro trends to business impact: Translate global macroeconomic indicators, and emerging industry risks (e.g. interest rates, inflation, geopolitical events, AI trends) into quantitative and qualitative views of Monzo’s strategic risk profile.
  • Develop strategic risk oversight dashboards, building these from scratch and exploring both internal data and external macroeconomic data sources to provide meaningful insight into Monzo’s risk profile.
  • Deliver executive-level insight: Produce monthly strategic risk oversight reports and analysis for our Group Chief Risk Officer combining internal and external data
  • Own data quality in strategic risk reports you produce, making sure risk data and formulas are accurate, consistent, and meaningful. You’ll manage issue resolution and enhancement requests from our Group Chief Risk Officer.
  • Deep-dive research: Conduct thematic risk deep-dives on complex market developments, geopolitical events, or emerging structural shifts
  • Carry out strategic risk oversight reviews, working with our first line colleagues to deliver real insight into how we’re managing strategic risk
  • Look for opportunities to streamline processes, automate tasks, and improve the usability of our risk management frameworks and strategic risk oversight

Frameworks

  • Drive Group Frameworks: Support the core operations of Monzo’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) as we scale across markets.
  • Support cross-functional projects: Play a key analytical role in our cross-functional projects such as Risk Appetite refreshes
  • Support the operation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), including preparing materials for Group Executive and Board risk committees
  • Create and maintain user-facing documentation, training, and process guidance for our risk frameworks
  • Tackle other ad-hoc tasks to support the Group Risk team on frameworks, systems, and projects

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if…

  • You have a strong understanding of macroeconomic and external drivers, and how they impact financial services businesses. You might hold a degree in economics or finance paired with experience in financial services, consulting or fintech.
  • You naturally track external economic signals (rates, inflation, consumer credit dynamics) and understand how they translate into institutional risk and business opportunities.
  • You're experienced in creating macroeconomic monitoring dashboards. You know what 'good' looks like and you’re confident in bringing that expertise to Monzo.
  • You know your way around dataset manipulation, formulas, (Google Sheets/Excel, G-Suite, and modern productivity tools like Gemini) and you know what a high-calibre macro monitoring dashboard looks like and can build one from scratch
  • You can break down complex quantitative or macro narratives into crisp, digestible written and verbal insights for senior stakeholders across the three lines of defense and always keeping to Monzo's tone of voice.
  • You're a strategic thinker. You can balance immediate tasks with long-term goals to prioritise effectively.
  • You're resilient and comfortable working in a fast paced and ambiguous environment where the day to day job is constantly evolving and changing
  • A team player who can foster positive and collaborative relationships across the three lines of defence
  • A role model for our values and behaviours.
