💼 The Team

If you love driving ambitious PR strategies, across multiple European markets outside of the UK and are passionate about what Monzo is doing, this could be the role for you! We're looking for an experienced PR professional to join our team as a Senior PR and Communications Manager (12 month fixed term contract) for Expansion Markets to help us bring Monzo to more people in more places.

You will have strong experience managing successful PR activities and campaigns in markets beyond the UK. You’ll have the ability to run the day-to-day PR activity in already established markets whilst also planning and executing PR launches in brand new markets and supporting in-market leadership profiling.

In this role, you will work closely with multiple teams including marketing, social, influencer, product and Monzo’s leadership team. You’ll devise and execute PR strategies that support business goals and showcase the best of Monzo in other markets. You'll need the ability to multitask managing multiple campaigns and market launches at the same time as well as having exceptional stakeholder management and collaboration skills.

This role is for a strategic planner and doer, you can see the big picture but are not afraid to get your hands dirty and approach projects in a collaborative manner.

You'll report to the Director of Corporate Communications and will manage an EU PR Manager based in Spain.

🔑You’ll play a key role by…

  • Planning and executing all PR activity in already established European markets, Ireland and Spain.
  • Leading and implementing our go-to-market PR strategy for Monzo in all new markets across EU. This includes establishing resources, building a launch plan and running the day-to-day.
  • Finding creative ways to get Monzo regularly into consumer press through big campaigns and smaller reactive, locally relevant news jumps.
  • Balance global campaigns with localised stories to ensure consistency and locally relevant content.
  • Managing spokespeople and acting as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on external communications, media training, engagement, and storytelling.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with product, commercial, and operations teams to uncover and amplify compelling PR opportunities.
  • Managing current international agencies and team members whilst also resourcing and setting us up for success in new EU markets.
  • Building strong relationships with key media and journalists, while managing incoming press enquiries.
  • Using data and insights to inform and adapt strategy for our international expansion efforts.
  • Establishing new processes and ways of working in new markets.
  • Staying ahead of industry and relevant policy trends and developments to inform strategy and maintain thought leadership.

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if you have…

  • Proven experience leading both tailored and scalable PR strategies for multiple international markets.
  • Experience launching brands with little brand awareness in new markets across Europe.
  • A track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong experience working with and managing external agencies across multiple markets.
  • Ability to understand local media, audience nuances and adapt strategy based on this.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and impact in delivering standout PR campaigns.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • A genuine passion for Monzo’s mission and an excitement to help bring it to more customers around the world!
