Electrical Engineer

Overview

Join Moonshot’s high-performance engineering team as an Electrical Engineer, where you’ll apply power systems expertise to the design and execution of UL891 switchboards, UL67 panelboards, and power-focused UL508A assemblies supporting next-generation AI and data center infrastructure. This role focuses on power delivery, equipment compliance, and practical engineering decisions that ensure systems are safe, reliable, and manufacturable. You’ll collaborate closely with mechanical designers, controls engineers, and manufacturing engineers, providing technical guidance on UL compliance, component selection, and system design to support Moonshot’s rapidly growing portfolio of high-power infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Power Distribution Engineering: Provide engineering input and oversight for the design of UL891 switchboards, UL67 panelboards, and power-focused UL508A control panels used in high-power applications.
  2. UL Compliance & Standards Application: Interpret and apply UL891, UL508A, UL67, NEC, and related standards, serving as a technical authority or reviewer to ensure compliance throughout the design lifecycle.
  3. Busbar & Mechanical Integration: Guide mechanical designers and engineers on busbar sizing, spacing, routing, bracing, insulation, and material selection in accordance with UL requirements and applicable UL files.
  4. One-Line & Power Schematic Review: Review and validate one-line diagrams and power schematics to ensure accurate representation of system intent, ratings, protective devices, and coordination.
  5. Component Selection & Validation: Support and review the selection of breakers, fuses, disconnects, transformers, and related power components, verifying ratings, suitability, and UL compliance.
  6. Controls Interface Collaboration: Work in close collaboration with controls and automation engineers to ensure control circuits are properly integrated into power equipment and aligned with system requirements.
  7. Manufacturing Support: Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, testing, and field feedback, resolving design questions and improving reliability and manufacturability.
  8. Design Standards & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development and refinement of internal engineering standards, best practices, and guidelines for power distribution equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience in power distribution systems required.
  • 3 years of experience with power distribution equipment such as switchboards, panelboards, transformers, and protective devices. 5+ years overall electrical engineering experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of UL891, UL508A, UL67, and NEC requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and power schematics.
  • Familiarity with control circuits and component selection in UL-listed assemblies.

Why Moonshot?

  • High-Growth Environment: Be part of a rapidly scaling company delivering power infrastructure for AI and data center applications, with meaningful technical challenges and real ownership.
  • Practical Engineering Focus: Work on real-world power distribution equipment where sound engineering judgment, compliance, and manufacturability matter.
  • Collaborative Team: Join a hands-on engineering organization that values clear communication, technical details and getting designs right.
