The HR & Payroll Operations Support position provides administrative and operational support across Human Resources and Payroll Operations. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this position supports payroll processing, benefits administration, employee documentation, HRIS maintenance, compliance activities, and other day-to-day HR and payroll processes.

The position works closely with the Payroll Manager and HR Operations to promote accurate, timely, and consistent administration of employee information, payroll activities, and HR documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support weekly and semi-monthly payroll processing, including timekeeping review, payroll documentation, audits, deductions, garnishments, and resolution of routine payroll discrepancies.
  • Support benefits enrollment, changes, employee correspondence, recordkeeping, and other benefits administration activities.
  • Assist with Form I-9 and E-Verify administration, new-hire reporting, onboarding documentation, and other HR compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate employee information and documentation within HRIS, payroll, benefits, and other Company systems.
  • Prepare, distribute, track, and maintain HR and payroll correspondence, forms, reports, and employee documentation.
  • Submit approved corrective action notices and other employee documents through the Company's electronic signature service and monitor completion.
  • Respond to routine employee payroll, benefits, and HR operations questions and escalate matters requiring management review.
  • Perform routine audits and assist with identifying and correcting missing, incomplete, or inconsistent employee and payroll information.
  • Maintain confidential personnel, payroll, benefits, and compliance records.
  • Assist with HR and Payroll SOPs, checklists, reporting, process documentation, and process improvements.
  • Provide cross-training, backup coverage, and general administrative support across HR and Payroll Operations.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive employee and payroll information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and recognize when matters require escalation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn HRIS, payroll, benefits, and other business systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with HR and Payroll team members.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in Human Resources, payroll, benefits administration, HR operations, or a related administrative function preferred.
  • Experience with payroll and/or HRIS systems preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $24-27/hour

Schedule

  • Onsite at our location in Indianapolis, IN
  • Monday-Friday; 8am-5pm
