Senior Accountant - Orlando, FL - United States ONSITE OPPORTUNITY
Summary
Morgan & Morgan is seeking a Corporate Senior Accountant in our Downtown Orlando office who will monitor the financial health of Morgan & Morgan. This individual will assist with management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization The Corporate Senior Accountant assists with preparations for audits and works to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances. This individual will ensure compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations. This position reports to Director, Corporate Accounting and has contact with senior-level Attorneys and the firm’s Chief Financial Officer which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting including but not limited to the following:
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and manage audit schedules.
- Prepare variance analyses and explain fluctuations in financial results.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with Finance and other departments to support budget preparation and financial forecasting.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as required.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.
- Identify solutions to discrepancies in financial records.
- Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
- Addressing tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end preparation, reconciliation and the support of budget and forecast activities.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of proven working experience as Sr. Accountant, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor Finance Manager, or related position
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
- NetSuite experience a plus
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
- Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- CPA license preferred
