Morrison-Maierle is seeking a Construction Technical Adviser to provide guidance and assistance during the construction phase of transportation and civil infrastructure projects[SF2.1], ensuring quality, schedule, and design alignment in the field.
THE ROLE
As a Construction Technical Adviser, you will assist the Project Manager during the construction phase of transportation design infrastructure projects—ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with design intent. You will assist with roadway, and heavy civil projects, coordinating teams to maintain schedule, cost, quality, and compliance while ensuring successful delivery and strong client outcomes.
Construction Oversight & Project Delivery
- Oversee construction activities for civil and transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with project plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of coordination between contractors, engineers, and clients throughout the construction process.
Schedule, Cost & Risk Management
- Monitor and manage project schedules, including CPM scheduling, sequencing, and critical path activities.
- Oversee construction budgets, cost tracking, and change management processes.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks related to schedule, cost, quality, and constructability.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure construction activities meet engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and design intent.
- Interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents for field teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Oversee QA/QC processes, documentation of deficiencies, and resolution of field issues.
Contract Administration & Documentation
- Support construction contract administration, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and claims management
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting on progress, issues, risks, and performance
- Participate in dispute resolution, claims support, and documentation of construction impacts when necessary
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and mentor construction representatives, inspectors, and field staff.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, field services, and client organizations.
- Provide technical guidance and serve as a resource to project teams and internal stakeholders.
Client Engagement & Business Development Support
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and agency partners.
- Support proposal development, scope definition, and pursuit strategies for future construction work.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to the growth of construction management services.

- $80,000-$95,000 base pay (Compensation for this role is based on experience, qualifications, and geographic location)

YOUR STRENGTHS
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering technology, construction management, or related field (or equivalent experience within civil engineering).
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) licensure preferred but not required.
- 7–10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction management and inspection, or related field within civil or transportation infrastructure.
- Proven ability to oversee construction phase activities and manage field delivery of engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, engineering plans/specifications, contract administration, and QA/QC practices.
- Experience with scheduling (CPM), cost control, and risk management processes.
- Ability to be in the field, lead field teams, and coordinate across contractors, engineers, and clients.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage complex project environments.
- Experience with roadway, bridge, or heavy civil construction projects is highly preferred.
