About the Team
Michigan Online School (MOS) is a K-12 tuition-free online public school in the state of Michigan. At MOS, we empower students to be their best by enabling them to learn in ways that are right for them – using innovative technology at home, at their proper level, and at their own pace.
Working in cooperation with appropriate district supervisors, teachers, parents and students, the Speech Language Pathologist shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language and hearing disorders, helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum.
Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.

About the Opportunity
- Provide high quality virtual speech-language therapy services to a wide variety of students in grades K-12 in Michigan
- Conduct standard and non-standardized assessments, analyze results and write reports to determine strengths and concerns in the areas of motor speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, literacy, and dysphagia
- Develop treatment plans that are strengths-based as well as child and family-centered
- Ensure that IEP, Evaluation and progress monitoring procedures adhere to the district, state and federal guidelines
- Comply with the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) that impact speech-language pathologists
- Initiate, participate in and follow through on MET/IEP procedures as appropriate
- Ensure that all speech-language evaluations for initial referrals and re-evaluations are conducted within the required timelines
- Develop goals and objectives for each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) with teachers, staff, and parents that are aligned with core standards
- Provide speech-language services as indicated on each student’s IEP
- Maintain accurate, timely records of progress and service
- Report progress to parents as scheduled in students’ IEPs
- Collaborate in the development of the Review of Existing Evaluation Data (REED) and Evaluation Plan for three (3) year re-evaluations
- Initiates and maintains on-going communication with parents and staff to assist with the understanding of speech-language development, evaluation results, and student performance and concerns
- Collect on-going data and adapt treatment accordingly based on trends in student performance
- Attend IEP and Evaluation meetings and provide necessary documentation for team to review in a timely manner
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and all other members of a student’s educational team
- Demonstrate knowledge of academic standards; aligning them with treatment objectives
- Develop, follow, and communicate a daily schedule to building leaders and department supervisors
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and pursue professional development in maintenance of state board licensure and for addressing student and caseload needs
- Facilitate effective student communication abilities across all modes and levels of language
- Participate in building-based intervention processes to support students and teachers
- Develop functional use of district software for purposes of special education compliance and accountability reporting
- Additional duties as assigned
About You
- A master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
- Fulfill special requirements as indicated in Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE), R 340.1796 Teachers of scholars with speech and language impairment
- Michigan Board of Speech-Language Pathology, Speech-Language Pathology License
- Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office Suite, Google applications, e-mail, and internet applications; excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong content knowledge in one or more content areas
- Exhibit genuine care for children and a passion for teaching
- Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound educational decisions
- Exhibit flexibility regarding decision-making, daily challenges, and job duties
- Have a strong sense of integrity
- Have a “team player” attitude
- Ability to work in a diverse educational community setting
- Understanding of the community and student demographics
- Understand state proficiency testing as well as state teaching standards
- Satisfactory completion of federal and state required background check
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds
