Val Vista Pharmacy is a family-owned, Gilbert-based compounding pharmacy serving patients and providers across Arizona. We specialize in personalized medication solutions and operate with a strong focus on accuracy, responsive communication, consistent preparation standards, and patient-centered service.

We are growing and are looking for an experienced Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician who wants to join a collaborative team and contribute to safe, high-quality customized medication preparation.

Location: Gilbert, AZ
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $25.00–$28.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, no nights or weekends. Initial schedule is expected to be 9:30 AM–6:00 PM, and may adjust as staffing or business needs change.
Work Setting: On-Site

Position Summary
The Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician prepares patient-specific non-sterile compounded medications under the direction and supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role requires strong technical accuracy, pharmaceutical math skills, careful documentation, adherence to established formulas and standard operating procedures, and consistent compliance with applicable USP <795> and USP <800> requirements.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare non-sterile compounded medications accurately and efficiently according to approved formulas, pharmacy SOPs, applicable regulations, USP <795>, and USP <800> when applicable.
  • Perform pharmaceutical calculations; accurately weigh, measure, mix, prepare, package, and label compounded preparations.
  • Prepare dosage forms that may include capsules, creams, ointments, troches, suspensions/oral liquids, and other customized non-sterile formulations.
  • Complete compounding records, logs, and related documentation accurately and at the time work is performed.
  • Follow required quality-control procedures and promptly escalate discrepancies, deviations, equipment concerns, or formulation questions to the pharmacist.
  • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow the pharmacy's Hazardous Drug Control Plan and other applicable safety procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized compounding areas and equipment in accordance with established cleaning, sanitation, and quality procedures.
  • Monitor ingredients and supplies, support inventory management, verify appropriate storage, and identify expired, outdated, or low-stock materials.
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacists and pharmacy team members while maintaining a professional, reliable, and patient-focused approach.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, active Arizona Pharmacy Technician License in good standing.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on non-sterile compounding experience.
  • Strong pharmaceutical math skills and the ability to perform calculations, measurements, and formula-based preparation accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, complete documentation.
  • Ability to follow written formulas, SOPs, safety requirements, and pharmacist direction consistently.
  • Strong organization, communication, teamwork, and time-management skills in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.
  • Ability to work the full-time on-site schedule described above.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in an independent, community, specialty, or compounding pharmacy.
  • Working knowledge of USP <795>, USP <800>, hazardous drug handling, and good compounding practices.
  • Experience with multiple non-sterile dosage forms and specialized compounding equipment.
  • Experience supporting inventory controls, quality assurance documentation, equipment logs, audits, or compliance activities.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is an on-site pharmacy position that involves precision work, frequent standing, repetitive hand movements, use of specialized compounding equipment, and compliance with required PPE and safety procedures. The employee must be able to read labels and formulas, operate pharmacy and computer equipment, and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Primary work location is Gilbert, Arizona. As Val Vista Pharmacy grows, candidates who are open to supporting additional VVP locations may be considered for future opportunities.
