Construction Field Supervisor (Contract) - Corpus Christi, TX
About the Company
Our client is an established Texas security fencing and access-control contractor with long experience on Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) projects. They're finishing a multi-site TxDOT project across the Corpus Christi District and need an experienced construction supervisor on the ground to keep crews on track.
The Role
We're hiring a part-time, contract Site Supervisor to serve as the company's on-site supervisor for TxDOT. You'll keep the crew and subcontractors building to the plans and specs, and you'll be the point of contact when TxDOT visits. This is a supervisory role with no physical labor.
You won't be on one site every day. You'll rotate across 3–5 active sites, check in with the trades, and report back to the owner.
- Location: TxDOT Corpus Christi District — sites in Corpus Christi, Alice, Kingsville, Robstown, Port Aransas, Sinton, Refugio, Beeville, George West, Goliad, and Karnes City
- Type: 1099 independent contractor, part-time
- Hours: about 27–35 hours per week (roughly 3 days), spread across sites
- Schedule: mainly Monday–Friday; occasional Saturdays at some sites; no Sundays or TxDOT holidays
- Duration: about 6–8 months, starting ASAP
- Reports to: the company owner
What You'll Do
- Act as the company's on-site supervisor for TxDOT facility work: fencing, gates and gate operators, electrical, access control, and trenching
- Know the project plans and specifications and make sure every trade builds to them accurately and to a high standard
- Answer field questions from subcontractors and raise issues to the owner
- Take progress photos, send short status reports, and visit sites to check or measure items as requested
- Be reachable by phone during the work week and able to reach a site on short notice, including TxDOT visits
- Submit a weekly timesheet listing each site visited, time on site, and brief notes
What You Bring
Required
- Construction field experience, including supervising crews or running projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Confidence working with fence crews, electricians, access-control techs, and owner/agency representatives
- Your own reliable truck and a valid driver's license
- Based in or near the Corpus Christi area
- Able to pass TxDOT review: TxDOT approves the on-site supervisor's background and qualifications
Nice to have
- Project management certification (PMP, CAPM, or similar). No license is required.
- Fencing, gate, electrical, or access-control experience
- Prior TxDOT, public-works, or government-facility project experience
Pay
$30–$36 per hour, based on experience (1099). Hours are tracked and submitted on a weekly timesheet; hours above 30 in a week need the owner's approval in advance. Fuel or mileage compensation will be discussed with finalists.
How to Apply
Send your resume with a short summary of the construction projects and crews you've supervised. Final selection depends on TxDOT approval, and we'll use that summary in our submittal. We're moving quickly and will review applications as they come in.
Our client is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status.
