Head of Intelligent Leisure & Programming Production

520 Fifth Ave, NY NY 10036

JOIN US...

Upstairs, our clubhouse is dedicated to Intelligent Leisure, with three floors of dining, cultural programming, and spaces for our members to spend their free time intentionally and well. From our traditional sit-down restaurant to the vinyl listening room, there’s a little something special for every personality. Down at Bedrock, the club’s fitness and wellness destination, we’ve cultivated a hub of Physical Culture–two levels of premium gym facilities, aquatics, spa, and recovery experiences. Together, Moss and Bedrock create a holistic environment where members can move, restore, and connect in a refined, community-focused setting.

Intelligent Leisure is a foundational pillar of the Moss New York membership experience. It serves as the intellectual and cultural engine of the Club—convening ideas, people, and experiences that deepen member engagement, strengthen community, and differentiate Moss in the private club landscape.

The Head of Intelligent Leisure & Programming Production is responsible for setting the strategy, curating the content, and leading the execution of Moss’s intellectual and cultural programming. This role blends cultural fluency, programming judgment, member instinct, and production rigor. It is accountable for ensuring that Intelligent Leisure meaningfully contributes to membership value, engagement, retention, and Moss’s broader brand positioning.

This is a senior leadership role. It is not primarily a hosting, editorial, or social role—though all three are components of success. Ownership, judgment, follow-through, and operational excellence are paramount.

This position reports directly to the Co-Founders of Moss New York.

COMPENSATION:

The salary wage for this position is $130,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.

CLASSIFICATION:

This is an exempt, salaried position. In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), you are not eligible for overtime pay. Your compensation is intended to cover all hours required to fulfill the responsibilities of your role.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Programming Strategy & Intellectual Direction

  • Define and continuously refine the Intelligent Leisure vision in alignment with Moss’s mission, brand, and evolving membership base.
  • Establish clear programming pillars and thematic through-lines across talks, salons, screenings, cultural experiences, dining-anchored programming, and select wellness or Bedrock-adjacent activations.
  • Develop cohesive annual, quarterly, and monthly programming calendars with clear intent, cadence, and budget awareness.
  • Contribute original event ideas and shape programming concepts that feel distinctive, thoughtful, and unmistakably Moss.
  • Translate member interests, feedback, and council input into compelling programming opportunities.
  • Build a forward-looking pipeline of programming that balances ambition, feasibility, and member value.

2. Talent, Partnership & Cultural Network Development

  • Build and steward relationships with writers, thinkers, artists, academics, chefs, practitioners, moderators, performers, and institutions aligned with Moss values.
  • Source, outreach to, and negotiate with talent, moderators, speakers, cultural contributors, and strategic partners.
  • Identify and cultivate partnerships with nearby universities, institutes, cultural institutions, publications, presses, podcasts, and aligned organizations that enhance Moss’s cultural ecosystem.
  • Evaluate partnership and talent opportunities through the lens of member value, intellectual credibility, brand alignment, and long-term relevance.
  • Serve as the lead liaison for external cultural collaborators participating in Intelligent Leisure programming.

3. Event Production & Execution

  • Own end-to-end production of Intelligent Leisure events from concept through completion.
  • Lead planning around scope, format, setting, event flow, guest experience, production needs, and budget.
  • Source and manage vendors across décor, floral, rentals, AV, screening support, entertainment, and other production needs.
  • Negotiate vendor and talent contracts and manage related logistics.
  • Coordinate all production elements required for successful execution, including collateral, décor, hospitality, check-in, staffing support, and technical needs.
  • Oversee licensing requirements for screenings and other programming formats where applicable.
  • Coordinate ticket purchase and logistics for off-site Intelligent Leisure events.
  • Manage day-of talent and guest handling, ensuring hospitality, professionalism, and smooth execution.
  • Oversee event set-up and breakdown, including coordination with maintenance and operations teams on furniture movement, PA needs, troubleshooting, and other on-site logistics.
  • Ensure all events are reliably well-run, well-attended, and executed to Moss standards.

4. Internal Coordination & Operational Integration

  • Act as the central cross-functional lead for Intelligent Leisure event needs across Membership, Comms, Design, Bedrock, F&B, Operations, and Executive Leadership.
  • Liaise closely with Creative Team leads regarding event production needs and programming support.
  • Confirm event schedules, event details, and run-of-show documents with the Head of Intelligent Leisure leadership structure and the USE Events team, where relevant.
  • Coordinate event execution closely with F&B and Events teams to align food and beverage, service timing, reservations, staffing, and guest experience.
  • Coordinate facilities scheduling with Operations for room resets, furniture movement, AV access, and maintenance support.
  • Coordinate staffing support for event check-in, including Membership Reception where needed.
  • Maintain access to and accuracy within event systems, including Peoplevine and Tripleseat, and ensure event details, BEOs, pricing, and related information are kept current.
  • Coordinate reservations and hospitality arrangements for talent, speakers, vendors, and special guests with the F&B team.
  • Build strong systems and workflows so internal teams experience Intelligent Leisure as a reliable, well-run partner.

5. Member Communications, RSVP Management & Event Promotion

  • Oversee posting of events into Peoplevine and ensure all event listings are accurate, timely, and clear.
  • Manage member and guest RSVPs and maintain visibility into attendance pacing and guest list quality.
  • Coordinate RSVP communication and event details with Membership, Comms, and relevant operating teams.
  • Partner with the Communications team on member-facing promotion across email, app push notifications, social media, and other channels.
  • Ensure event-related communications are aligned across marketing, operational changes, confirmations, reminders, and cancellations.
  • Support a thoughtful, polished member journey from announcement through attendance and follow-up.

6. Membership Integration & Community Building

  • Act as a thoughtful steward of the Moss community—visible, present, and trusted by members.
  • Support the cultivation of founding members, council members, and special interest groups through programming that deepens community and reflects Moss’s quality bar.
  • Create structures for member participation that enhance, rather than dilute, the Club’s intellectual and cultural identity.
  • Ensure Intelligent Leisure programming strengthens the overall membership experience and gives members meaningful reasons to engage more deeply with Moss.

7. Measurement, Budget Stewardship & Iteration

  • Maintain oversight of the programming mix, pacing, attendance, budget performance, and operational quality of Intelligent Leisure events.
  • Track key indicators such as attendance, repeat participation, conversion interest, member feedback, production costs, and contribution to overall engagement and retention.
  • Ensure deadlines, budgets, run-of-show timelines, and follow-up actions are consistently met.
  • Communicate clearly with leadership on programming performance, key learnings, and recommended adjustments.
  • Continuously refine programming strategy and execution based on data, feedback, and organizational priorities.

Future Orientation

As Moss proves its concept in New York, Intelligent Leisure may extend to future locations or adjacent brand initiatives. This role is expected to contribute strategic guidance to such efforts, ensuring intellectual rigor, executional consistency, and brand alignment as Moss grows.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8–10+ years of experience in cultural programming, event production, intellectual curation, media, membership communities, hospitality, or adjacent fields.
  • A strong curator and a disciplined operator.
  • Experienced in owning both creative development and logistical execution.
  • Intellectually curious, culturally fluent, and credible in rooms of discerning, high-expectation members.
  • Highly organized, communicative, and accountable.
  • Comfortable making decisions, negotiating externally, setting boundaries, and maintaining standards.
  • Energized by building durable systems, not just producing one-off moments.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
