Software Developer in Test (SDET)

Remote - Work from Home

About Us

At Motivity, we're a mission-driven team of clinicians, researchers, and engineers dedicated to improving outcomes for individuals with autism and other developmental disorders. We build a comprehensive, all-in-one platform for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) providers that streamlines everything from clinical data collection to practice management. Our engineering culture is built on a deep respect for the clinicians we serve, a passion for solving complex problems, and a commitment to shipping high-quality, reliable software that truly makes a difference.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced test automation engineer to lead the next evolution of our quality engineering efforts. This isn't a checklist-driven QA role; you will be the driver of our quality strategy, empowered to design, build, and implement the automation framework and tooling that ensure our product is reliable, scalable, and delightful to use.

You will have the autonomy to shape our testing landscape, mentor a talented team of engineers on best practices, and embed a "quality-first" mindset across our entire development lifecycle. If you're passionate about building sophisticated test solutions and leaving a lasting impact on a product, this role is for you. This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role with no direct people management responsibilities.

What You'll Do

  • Architect & Build: Design, develop, and own our core test automation framework(s) from the ground up. You'll make the key architectural decisions to create a robust, scalable, and maintainable testing infrastructure for our web and mobile platforms.
  • Drive CI/CD Integration: Champion the seamless integration of automated testing into our CI/CD pipeline (we use GitHub Actions). Your goal is to create a fast, reliable feedback loop that catches issues early and enables developers to ship with confidence.
  • Define Quality Strategy: Move beyond bug hunting. You will partner with product and development leads to define comprehensive test strategies, identify risk areas, and determine the right blend of automated functional, performance, and regression testing.
  • Mentor & Elevate: Act as the go-to expert for all things test automation. You'll mentor other engineers, conduct code reviews on test suites, and elevate the entire team's ability to write high-quality, testable code.
  • Solve Complex Problems: Tackle our toughest quality challenges, from designing performance and load tests that simulate real-world usage to automating complex end-to-end user scenarios.

What You'll Bring

  • Deep Automation Experience: 8+ years in software testing with a strong focus on test automation. You've not only used frameworks but have experience building, maintaining, and scaling them.
  • Strong Coding Skills: Proficiency in a modern programming language. Experience in .Net development and F# is an advantage. However, deep expertise in a language like JavaScript, Python, or Java is also highly valued.
  • Framework Expertise: Hands-on experience with modern web testing frameworks like Playwright or Cypress. You understand the trade-offs and can choose the right tool for the job.
  • CI/CD Mastery: A solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience integrating tests into pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • A Strategic Mindset: You think about quality holistically and can create and execute a long-term vision for testing.
  • Collaborative Spirit: You excel at working within an agile team and can communicate complex technical ideas clearly to developers, product managers, and stakeholders.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with performance, load, or security testing.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure, AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of BDD (Behavior-Driven Development) principles.

Why Join Us?

Join us and build a product that truly helps the helpers. We're a thriving, mission-driven startup and this is your chance to get on board. As part of our talented and driven international team, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a fully remote company, working from wherever you're most comfortable. We support our team with competitive benefits, including comprehensive health care, a 401k plan, parental leave, and an open time-off policy, because we believe in taking care of the people who take care of our mission.
