Mobilization Director

Anywhere in the Continental US

Full-time •  Competitive Pay • Excellent Benefits • Work from Anywhere in the Contiguous U.S.

Application deadline: July 15th, 2025

MoveOn is a people-powered force for progress. We wield independent political power by bringing millions together to take action to create a country with a place of honor and dignity for everyone—where all are welcome, we take care of one another, and where everyone is set up to thrive.

For more than a generation, MoveOn has been a bulwark against the radical right and has channeled millions of voices to end wars, protect democracy, and advance justice for all. We've built political power for progressive change through mobilizing the left to Democrats so that we can advance our vision of an America for all.

MoveOn is the largest multi-issue digital-first political campaigning organization in the country. We drive rapid-response campaigns at scale on a multitude of key issues at high-impact moments while building sustainable campaigns that resonate and grow over time. Whether it's democracy, health care, foreign policy, economic justice, immigration, or otherwise, MoveOn provides our members with timely ways to take action for change.

The Mobilization Director leads the planning and execution of events, mobilizations, and creative activations—ranging from large-scale distributed days of action to more targeted efforts—that advance our advocacy and electoral campaigns. This role is responsible for designing and project managing high-impact, public-facing member activations that energize and engage our base, grow our membership, and respond rapidly to emerging moments, all while supporting long-term strategic goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and propose bold, strategic, and creative mobilization tactics that advance campaign goals, harness credible theories of change and engage the public in meaningful ways.
    • Projects may include, but are not limited to, large-scale distributed mobilizations, GOTV (i.e. concerts, rallies, tours), rapid response actions, organizing programs, and any MoveOn-led conferences or forums.
  • Lead execution of high-impact events and activations—sometimes by coordinating cross-functional internal teams, with allies, or vendors, and other times by rolling up your sleeves to handle every detail solo.
  • Serve as a collaborative and reliable project manager, guiding colleagues through complex initiatives while staying nimble and grounded.
  • Represent the organization in coalition spaces and external partnerships, building movement alignment and driving joint action.
  • Balance visionary thinking with hands-on implementation, maintaining a low-ego, high-output approach to getting things done.
  • Ensure MoveOn mobilization and events comply with organizational policies (particularly around event safety) and are legally compliant.
  • Utilize the full range of MoveOn’s digital campaigning tools, including email, mobile messaging, petition, call alert, event, and querying platforms.

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least 7 years experience leading digital campaigns that mobilize people online and offline, promote progressive values with a clear equity lens, and make change in the world.
  • Proficient campaign strategist with deep knowledge of distributed organizing.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners around a project or campaign resulting in effective implementation.
  • Strong project management skills and experience, including management of logistical requirements during mobilization, special projects, etc.
  • Comfort with digital campaign tools (including Mobile Commons, Action Network, Mobilize America, Spoke, and more) and ability to quickly learn new ones as needed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to MoveOn’s mission and values.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Experience with and deep commitment to applying anti-oppression frameworks and practices—especially with regard to racial, gender, and economic injustice—to work they have led. Ideal candidates would have worked with racial justice-oriented coalitions, organizations, and campaigns in the past.

A successful candidate will:

  • Harbor a working knowledge of digital activism and familiarity with organizing environments.
  • Be keenly attentive to political and current events, and have a good grasp on the national progressive movement ecology.
  • Think outside of the box, infuse creativity and innovation into their approach to digital campaigning and organizing.
  • Ability to triage and stay collected amidst urgency while moving proactively on longer-term projects in slower moments.
  • Have the ability to stay nimble and move quickly without sacrificing process and structure to ensure legal and operational compliance.
  • Have experience with and a commitment to applying anti-oppression frameworks, especially regarding racial, gender, and economic injustice. Additionally, they’re committed to progressive values and have a deep desire to make an impact on the world!

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
