Temporary Fundraising Data Analyst (Remote) at MoveOn
Full-time • Competitive Pay • Excellent Benefits • Work From Anywhere in the Continental U.S. Through December 31, 2026 with possibility of extension.
MoveOn is a people-powered force for progress. We wield independent political power by bringing millions together to take action to create a country with a place of honor and dignity for everyone—where all are welcome, we take care of one another, and where everyone is set up to thrive.
For more than a generation, MoveOn has been a bulwark against the radical right and has channeled millions of voices to end wars, protect democracy, and advance justice for all. We've built political power for progressive change through mobilizing the left to Democrats so that we can advance our vision of an America for all.
MoveOn is the largest multi-issue digital first political campaigning organization in the country. We drive rapid-response campaigns at scale on a multitude of key issues at high-impact moments while building sustainable campaigns that resonate and grow over time. Whether its democracy, health care, foreign policy, economic justice, immigration or otherwise, MoveOn provides our members with timely ways to take action for change.
As a rapid-response organization with a storied and large-scale fundraising operation, we rely on up-to-the-minute data to support strategic decisionmaking. We often need to wrangle data across multiple platforms and donation channels, set up experiments quickly and provide rigorous evaluation of results, investigate data outages, reconcile data discrepancies and resolve data integrity issues, and answer ad hoc questions. The fundraising data analyst will be responsible for supporting MoveOn’s grassroots fundraising efforts with ad hoc queries, investigative data analysis, reports and dashboards that track progress toward goals and synthesize data across donation channels.

- Writing ad hoc SQL queries to support the fundraising team’s mission
- Working closely with stakeholders to pull audiences for fundraising solicitations and online ads
- Building and maintaining dashboards and reports
- Supporting the maintenance of ETL pipelines in dbt
- Troubleshooting and debugging fundraising reports and trackers
- Serve as the first line of response for data outages and integrity issues
- Effective communication of top line fundraising numbers to directors and senior management
To be a successful candidate, you will ...
- Be passionate about fundraising in the progressive movement.
- Be detail-oriented. Accuracy and thoroughness are critical for supporting fundraising stakeholders.
- Be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- Be a good communicator. You will need to communicate quantitative information to a large audience that includes senior management.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a data analyst, preferably working with fundraising data in the political space. Familiarity with common platforms, transactional data, or campaign finance reports (ActBlue, ActionNetwork, Paypal, Braintree, etc.) is a plus.
- High-level proficiency querying relational databases with SQL.
- Experience with building dashboards in a business intelligence tool.
- Familiarity with A/B testing and relevant statistical concepts
- Ability to learn quickly and work within an existing SQL codebase.
- Experience debugging queries and investigating data integrity issues.
- Prior experience with ETL tools like dbt is a plus.
- Prior experience working with recurring orders or subscription models is a plus.
- Effective time management and comfort working in a fast-paced setting with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to be effective in an organization whose staff all work remotely.
- Ability to communicate technical results with a nontechnical audience.
