Mozilla is seeking a seasoned legal leader to head our Product & Privacy Legal teams. This pivotal role involves managing a team of highly skilled and experienced senior legal professionals and driving strategic legal support across a rapidly evolving line of products, to enable innovation and protect our users in line with Mozilla’s mission. This role will report to the Vice President, Legal.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and foster the professional growth of a high-performing team of senior product and privacy professionals.
- Actively build strong relationships and cross-functional alignment on privacy and product issues, balancing legal risk, product goals, and user trust.
- Be a trusted advisor to Mozilla’s leadership, including executives in Product, Engineering, Ads, Data, and Marketing.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues on the Legal & Policy teams on the intersection between our product and privacy work and our policy, competition, commercial, M&A, and employment matters.
- Set the strategic vision for the Product & Privacy Legal teams, aligning legal support with Mozilla’s product and business priorities and scaling Mozilla’s privacy compliance program.
- Provide leadership in evaluating and improving legal processes and guidance related to product development and privacy operations.
- Be a mentor and role model, supporting the learning and professional development of all members of the Legal team as one of its senior leaders.
What you’ll bring:
- J.D. degree and membership in a state bar with good standing
- 10+ years relevant experience, including being in-house at a technology company focused on counseling business clients through the product development lifecycle on product and privacy issues
- 5+ years experience as a people manager, with demonstrated ability to manage senior legal professionals with deep expertise and experience
- Excellent collaborator who builds internal alignment across subject matter experts to deliver multifaceted legal advice regarding privacy, IP, consumer protection, security, commercial, and other legal issues
- Proven ability to build deep, trust-based relationships and gain the confidence of senior leaders across the organization
- Skilled at navigating change and ambiguity, demonstrated ability to provide direction amidst evolving priorities
- Experience with Ads or AI technologies a plus
