Senior Manager, Technology Operations & Strategy

We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead our Technology Operations team. 

This is an exciting chance to significantly influence our technology infrastructure and operations, and help guide our tech growth. This role involves managing and executing our company's IT strategy. This includes overseeing IT execution, IT Helpdesk, laptop management, Enterprise Collaboration tools and office AV equipment.

The Senior Manager, reporting to the Director of Business Technology, will lead the  IT team. Their goal is to ensure smooth user support, secure and reliable infrastructure, and innovative collaboration methods for our hybrid workforce. This role is based in Oakland, California and crucial in creating a tech-driven environment that boosts user productivity.

The Impact You’ll Make:

  • IT Operations & Strategy: Supervise the depth and breadth of IT services for the company including IT Helpdesk, building AV equipment, laptop management, Enterprise Collaboration tooling  and HQ large meetings/events requiring hands-on IT support
  • Team Management: Lead a team of IT operations professionals, which includes system administrators, IT helpdesk support staff, asset management personnel, and office building AV engineers.
  • Policy Development & Enforcement: Formulate and enforce IT policies and best practices to ensure efficient and secure operations.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish, track, and present key performance indicators to the leadership team to demonstrate the effectiveness of IT operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various teams across the organization to ensure that IT systems align with and support business objectives.
  • IT Portfolio Management: Oversee the IT portfolio and set priorities to enhance our technology operations and services.
  • Software and Contract Management: Supervise the management of hardware, software and related contracts to ensure optimal utilization and cost-effectiveness.
  • Security Collaboration: Work in tandem with the security team to ensure the safety and security of our IT systems and devices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Remain dedicated to the continuous improvement of IT operations, seeking out opportunities for enhancement and innovation.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the IT budget, including forecasting future costs and implementing measures to control expenses.
  • Leadership and Development: Provide leadership and direction for the IT team, including responsibilities such as hiring, training, performance evaluation, and offering professional development opportunities.

Who You Are:

  • Proven experience in a senior management role within IT services. They should have excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, system administration, and operations
  • Deep understanding of IT systems, software, and hardware. They should be able to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong understanding of IT compliance and security protocols. They should ensure that all operations adhere to industry standards and regulations.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working with various departments and stakeholders.
  • Strong planning skills capable of developing and implementing strategic plans for the IT helpdesk. This includes setting goals, defining KPIs, and planning resources.
  • Have a good understanding of the IT industry and keep up-to-date with the latest trends and developments.
  • Experience with vendor management, contracts, licenses and budget
  • Experience with asset management, security and lifecycle (warranties, end of life) 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Should be able to identify training needs and provide appropriate training and development opportunities for their team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Will be speaking in public often to leadership and team members

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:

  • National: $173,00 - $216,300
  • Premium: $187,300 - $234,100
  • Premium Plus: $203,600 - 254,500
