Associate Account Manager (Core)

Toronto, Canada; Vancouver, Canada

Marqeta is a leader in the fintech space, redefining what is possible within financial services and sitting at the vanguard of embedded finance. We're growing fast and that means building a team that can grow with us.

The Associate Account Manager role is designed for someone who is eager to build deep expertise in payments, customer success, and account management. You will own day-to-day operational success for a portfolio of Marqeta customers, companies that deserve excellent support and a reliable point of contact, while also playing a critical role in building the operational foundation that helps our broader Account Management team scale.

This is a role for someone who takes pride in keeping things running smoothly, communicates with clarity and professionalism, and wants to grow into a strategic Account Manager over time. If you're curious about fintech, detail-oriented, and excited by the idea of becoming an expert in a complex and fast-moving industry, we'd love to talk.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within Ontario or British Columbia, Canada. We’d love for you to join us!

This position is not for an existing vacancy.

The Impact You'll Have

This role has two equally important dimensions:

  • Identify patterns or recurring needs that signal an opportunity to improve the customer experience.
  • Escalate complex issues to the appropriate internal teams and see them through to resolution.
  • Perform in-depth analysis to identify macro, business, technology, and pipeline trends for key customers.
  • Support day-to-day customer management processes.

Operations, Process & AM Team Support (~50%)

  • Document and improve operational processes that support the broader Account Management team leading and work with Revenue Operations.
  • Create, maintain, and standardize templates, playbooks, and reference materials used across the team.
  • Support senior Account Managers with preparation of customer-facing materials; QBRs, executive briefing decks, reporting, and account summaries.
  • Perform data analysis and reporting to surface customer trends, program health metrics, and portfolio insights.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Settlement, Compliance, Support) to track and close open action items.
  • Contribute to internal projects that improve how the team operates and serves customers at scale.

Who You Are

We're hiring for potential, curiosity, and work ethic as much as prior experience. Here's what will set you up for success:

    • 1 - 3 years of experience in account management, customer success, operations, business development, or a related field. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
    • Exceptional organization and follow-through. You keep track of everything in flight and nothing falls through the cracks.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills: You write clearly, respond promptly, and represent Marqeta professionally in every interaction.
    • Analytical mindset: You're comfortable working in Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, IF/SUMIF formulas) and enjoy using data to tell a story.
    • Process-oriented: You spot inefficiencies, document what you learn, and look for ways to make things better.
    • Self-starter: You're proactive, take ownership of your work, and don't wait to be told what to do next.
    • Team player: You collaborate well, build relationships across teams, and make the people around you better.
    • Fintech curiosity: You're genuinely interested in payments, financial services, or technology, and you want to develop deep expertise in the space.
    • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM tools is a plus, but not required.
