Workshop Technician’s - Hastings and CHB Location
We’re looking for two skilled Workshop Technicians to join our high performing Engineering & Orchard Support teams.
- Central Hawke’s Bay (CHB) – Senior Workshop Technician
- Hastings/Whakatu – Workshop Technician

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Servicing and maintaining company vehicles, tractors, orchard machinery, and plant equipment.
- Carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance programmes, often on-site across Mr Apple orchards.
- Diagnosing faults by observing machinery in operation and using diagnostic, measuring, and testing tools.
- Completing minor repairs and maintenance to keep equipment running efficiently.
- Ensuring all maintenance documentation, MEX requisitions, and work orders are completed accurately.
- Completing the MEX training programme and following all permit processes (hot work, working at heights, confined spaces).
- Maintaining a tidy, organised workshop, work vehicle, and tool storage areas using 5S standards.
- Providing operator training and support to orchard teams when required.
- Working safely at all times and actively contributing to safety meetings, investigations, and continuous improvement.
- Participating in rostered call outs outside normal hours when required.
What You’ll Bring:
For both roles:
- A trade certificate (Agricultural Machinery preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with tractors, agricultural machinery, and light diesel vehicles.
- Strong engineering and welding skills (MIG, ARC, TIG).
- Good physical fitness – the role involves bending, lifting, and twisting.
- Ability to work independently while being a strong team player.
- Confidence using computer based preventative maintenance systems.
- A full manual driver’s licence.
- Commitment to safe work practices, hazard reporting, and following all company procedures.
For the Senior CHB role (additional expectations):
- 7+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Ability to provide technical leadership, work autonomously and influence best practice.
- Strong problem solving capability and confidence managing complex machinery issues.
