Senior Site Reliability Engineer
About the role
Muon Space is looking for a Sr. Site Reliability Engineer to join our Platform Software team. Our team provides cloud infrastructure for Muon’s Satellite Operations systems and Data Platform, as well as development and test systems for engineers across the company. As a Cloud Engineer on the team, you will bring expertise in building and operating high-criticality services, and provide a foundation on which the company can build world-class satellite systems.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and versatile engineer who is excited to collaborate with other teams to build secure and reliable systems. You are passionate about setting a high bar, and enabling others to be extremely productive with great tools.
This role may be remote or located at our headquarters in Mountain View, California.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code components for Muon’s cloud and on-premises compute environments
- Implement tools and automation to empower software engineers to effectively and efficiently develop, test, and deploy their applications
- Implement security best practices and infrastructure to protect Muon’s systems and ensure compliance with applicable requirements
- Develop and implement standards for SLAs, monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery
Qualifications
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, site reliability, or DevOps
- Expertise with AWS
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, TLS, and VPNs
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with new opportunities each week
Nice-to-have Skills
- Experience with Python development and Bash scripting
- Experience with configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible
- Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems
- Experience with the Azure cloud ecosystem
- Experience managing CI/CD in cloud-based development, staging, and production environments
- Strong Linux fundamentals
- Familiarity with cybersecurity compliance frameworks such as NIST-800-171 and GovCloud
Salary
The salary range for this role is $150K-$200K and will depend on a candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
