Satellite Technical Program Manager
About the role
Muon seeks a Satellite Technical Program Manager to join our team and help run cutting-edge internal R&D and customer programs. The ideal candidate is able to develop, maintain, and communicate our highly dynamic development schedules. Our timelines are extremely aggressive, which would require the candidate to be comfortable working on complex multidisciplinary projects in a fast-paced environment. This role will be located on-site at least 3 days per week at our headquarters in Mountain View, California.
Responsibilities
- Work with the product and mission teams to understand top-down goals and translate that into an executable plan with detailed timelines, deliverables and milestones for both internal and customer facing programs.
- Ensure every stakeholder understands what they need to deliver at all times.
- Ensure program risks are identified and proactively mitigate/retire risks with relevant engineering teams.
- Effective prioritization and delegation to enable tactical and strategic decision-making cross-functionally across engineering, mission, finance and strategy to reach the right conclusions
- Develop standard reports to provide concise and effective communications to key stakeholders on program status, issues/risks, and accomplishments.
- Work cross-functionally with teams to balance resource and budget constraints across multiple programs
- Learn Muon’s engineering, production, and launch site operations with sufficient depth such that you are able to critically evaluate them and offer process improvements.
Qualifications
- B.S. in an engineering discipline, M.S. preferred
- 4-5 years relevant experience in engineering and technical program management
- Track record of successfully delivering complete systems (hardware, firmware, software, algorithms) on time, to scope, with high quality.
- Experience in development and/or program management of complex multidisciplinary systems.
- Expertise in modern, cloud-based productivity tools
- Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
- Experience in vendor and contract management
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with new challenges each week
Nice-to-have Skills
- System engineering and experience with inter-discipline technical trade study
- Experience working with scripting languages (e.g. Python, Julia) and database queries (e..g SQL, BigQuery) for data integration and dashboarding.
- Experience in a fast-paced, startup environment
- Experience managing and growing teams
Salary
The salary range for this role is $95K to $190k and will depend on a candidate's skills, geographic location, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
