Business Development Manager

We are searching for a Business Development Manager to join the Muon Space team. You will be responsible for enabling customer success and growth. In this role, the Business Development Manager will manage a large data contract and also grow the portfolio of users for Muon’s data. This role collaborates with Muon Space’s Engineering, Technology, growth, regulatory, legal and finance departments on both existing programs and new opportunities. In this role, you will be responsible for growing the data program with the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) users. This role will actively contribute to Muon Space’s internal development, setting priorities and service as a voice for the customer. You will service as a capture manager to create and lead a number of new opportunities.

About this Role

As a Business Development (BD) Manager working in the portfolio focused on DoD/IC, you will be responsible for creating new opportunities, leading capture activities, proposals and successfully winning new business. In this role, you will lead and perform key functions necessary to go from initial customer engagement/ lead to fully awarded contracts. 

As the manager of a large data contract, you will be responsible for leading all phases of the program life cycle to include system integration, data delivery to meet SLA objectives and ensuring that data quality meets needs.  The primary objective is to deliver all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and building a customer relationship to support future programs and company growth. The individual will lead a cross-functional team aligned to common program performance goals.

Location: This position can be located in the DC Metro Area, Mountain View, CA or Remote

 

Key Responsibilities

- Ensuring customer mission success of data delivery while meeting program cost, schedule and technical performance objectives

- Overseeing data delivery against orders and SLA commitments ensuring all order parameters are achieved. 

- Drive near term and long term growth for Muon Space IR data in DoD and IC. 

- Providing insight into customer feedback that can inform on roadmap and growth opportunities.

- Lead customer engagement, pipeline development and capture efforts.

- Measuring and reporting program performance.

- Ensuring program team understands the customer mission and adheres to contract scope

- Delivering presentations to customers, executive management and other program stakeholders

- Participating in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, schedule milestones, and key terms and conditions.

- Identify new opportunities and lead capture throughout pipeline stages to support company growth targets.

- Lead proposals and RFI responses. As part of proposal leadership- develop win themes, engage with engineering to develop technical solutions, develop Price to Win, write content and perform overall review of content before submission. 

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of professional relevant experience and 2 years experience leading a project as Program Manager or Technical Lead. 
  • Experience working or leading programs that delivered raw and product data to customers.
  • Experience with business development and sales. 
  • Ability to understand and communicate with senior management regarding program performance status (cost/schedule/resources/risk)
  • Experience creating and giving presentations and addressing complex matter / solutions with senior leaders
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced development environment.
  • Able to travel up to 25% of time.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with software data integration, commercial data and satellite programs.
  • Experience working with a diverse set of U.S. Government DoD, IC and Civil customers.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Experience managing and growing teams

 

Salary

The salary range for this role is $135k - $235k and will depend on a candidate's skills, geographic location, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
