Environmental Test Technician
About the role
Muon seeks an experienced Environmental Test Technician with a strong affinity toward multidisciplinary testing, test development, and problem solving. This role will work hand-in-hand with multidisciplinary engineers while supporting satellite hardware testing throughout the design and build processes. The ideal candidate is highly skilled with mechanical trades, hands-on, flexible, a quick learner, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is highly self-motivated.
Responsibilities
- Commission, evaluate, monitor, and maintain space simulation test equipment (Thermal, Thermal Vacuum, Vibration, EMI/EMC)
- Assemble, commission and troubleshoot supporting equipment and test racks to increase test lab capability and unit test quality
- Assist engineering and AI&T teams in preparing for and executing structural test for a variety of large- and small-scale structural and mechanical satellite components
- Instrument and test satellite flight hardware throughout development, production, and on-orbit correlation testing phases
- Work with engineering and facilities engineering to plan for, build out, and commission test equipment (mechanical assemblies, gas, cooling water, cryogenic fluid systems, etc.)
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and harnessing (e.g. pressure transducers, flowmeters, temperature sensors, accelerometers and strain gauges)
- Support rapid test turnarounds, hardware logistics, and reconfiguration efforts in a startup-paced production environment.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years experience conducting structural vibration/shock tests on spacecraft, aircraft, or similar high reliability systems
- 3+ years of hands on experience with mechanical/structural/fluid/electrical systems
- Experience in research and development or other fast-paced technical environment
- Ability to solve complex problems with minimal supervision on tight schedules
- Experience with rigging, cranes, and lift operations
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate and manipulate files
Nice-to-have Skills
- Familiarity with test standards (e.g., GEVS, MIL-STD, NASA-STD) and interpreting engineering drawings or test requirements.
- Experience with thermal vacuum and vacuum test equipment
- Experience with evaluation and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical or structural systems
- Experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, and soldering equipment
- Ability to fabricate and repair cable harnesses including: soldering, crimping, assembling connectors
- Knowledge/experience with cryogenic systems
- Knowledge of various fittings (NPT, MS, AN, Swagelok, medium pressure)
Salary
The non-exempt hourly range for this role is $61 - $89 and will depend on a candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
