Senior Frontend Software Engineer

About the role

Muon Space is building next-generation Earth observation infrastructure, and we’re looking for a Senior Frontend Software Engineer to design and build powerful, intuitive user interfaces that bridge satellite systems with human operators. You’ll develop mission-critical web applications that help plan, command, and analyze space missions—turning orbital complexity into clarity.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement frontend systems using modern frameworks (React, Vue.js) and TypeScript.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive designs, plans and roadmaps for frontend systems.
  • Build operational interfaces for satellite tasking, health monitoring, and customer portals
  • Integrate 3D visualization tools such as CesiumJS for real-time orbital situational awareness.
  • Collaborate with backend, ops, and product teams to deliver scalable, performant UIs.

Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years experience as a software engineer in a team environment
  • Strong programming experience in Python for web development
  • Experience with cloud-native software development in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) using containers
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with new opportunities each week

Nice-to-have Skills

  • 3+ years of frontend experience, with a strong track record leading projects or teams.
  • Experience with React or Vue.js and a strong grasp of TypeScript and modern UI architecture.
  • Experience building visual tools that handle real-time or complex geospatial data.
  • Bonus: familiarity with data visualization libraries (e.g., D3), and UX for technical domains.

Salary

  • The salary range for this role is $144,000 - $213,000 and will depend on a candidate's skills, geographic location, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
