Senior Software Engineer, Generalist
About the role
Muon seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join our Software Team. The ideal candidate is a brilliant generalist problem-solver with excellent system design and coding skills who can find and deploy simple solutions to complex problems. They are able to quickly understand new technology and systems, and to reason about automation and fault handling in a complex environment. They have significant prior experience and interest in either robotics, autonomy, embedded software, mobile development, simulation or distributed systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, lead, implement multi-week complex and cross-team projects
- Estimate forward-looking work
- Measure metrics aligned and highly correlated with company goals
- Manage, publish and update goals for their area of responsibility
- Act as the company expert in their area of ownership
- Mentor new and junior engineers
- Ensure company standards are upheld for code, testing, design and review
- Participate in evaluating and selecting technologies for our software foundation
Qualifications
- Proven capability to quickly learn new programming languages and development environments
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field
- 8+ years experience as a software engineer in a team environment
- Strong programming in C++, Rust or Python
Nice-to-have Skills
- Expertise in embedded software, robotics or autonomy
- Training in physics, statistics, computational mathematics or electrical engineering
- Prior experience in aerospace software
Salary
The salary range for this role is $184,000 - $208,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
