Data Analyst (Entry Level)

Remote - US

At Murj, we do what we love and love what we do!

Murj was founded in 2014 to solve a problem witnessed first-hand. Founder and CEO, Todd, worked with cardiology practices as an implantable cardiac device sales representative for Medtronic. He watched clinicians struggle to manage these sophisticated devices using outdated and inadequate tools. Having previously worked in product management at Apple, Todd knew that brilliant design can profoundly impact the user experience -- so why not design a better way to care for patients with implantable devices?

In Murj, Todd created an enterprise SaaS cardiac device management software solutions company that reimagines and transforms patient care through thoughtful design and a passion for quality and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Today, Murj continues this transformative innovation with intuitive, elegant, and imaginative technology solutions that improve the lives of cardiac care professionals and their patients.

What Murj offers.

Murj is for people seeking a fast-paced, ever-changing environment surrounded by a supportive team that works hard and strives for innovation and professionalism, with a steady diet of humility and camaraderie.

And in joining Murj, you are joining a community that believes in evolution and promotion from within; there is a high degree of opportunity for progression, creativity, and ownership.

From your first day at Murj, you are eligible for full medical, dental, and vision insurance along with an open vacation policy, more than 10 annual company holidays, and competitive compensation and equity participation, and a 401(k) after 3 months of service.

How We Work at Murj

Murj is the right place for people who excel in fast-paced, dynamic environments. Murj embodies a high-performance culture  where every team member is expected to exceed expectations and take ownership beyond their role to drive our collective success.

Employees should be comfortable working independently and taking initiative to identify and address needs. This proactive approach is essential to thriving at Murj.

We believe in working hard together, with a shared sense of purpose and drive. We’re not afraid to ask tough questions, and we support each other in reaching for bold new ideas.

Let us leave you with this.

If this role sounds intriguing - we encourage you to apply. And we encourage applicants to embrace new challenges, as the right fit at Murj is often more about the person and the challenges they seek, not just what they have accomplished in the past.

About The Role.

As a data analyst, you will leverage SQL and business intelligence (Tableau) tools to run ad hoc queries, answer questions, and build new reporting to several internal and customer stakeholders.

You should be comfortable working with SQL (and/or Python), and have experience transforming data into insights through effective storytelling and visualization.

This role offers an opportunity to make a large impact on a small analytics team. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, and taking the initiative to identify and address work needed but not necessarily assigned. Strong communication and organizational skills will be as critical as technical skills to excel.

What You’ll Do.

  • Run ad hoc queries and answer questions submitted by customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead projects to produce new reports:
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to define the need.
    • Iterate on the design.
    • Work with technical team to create underlying data pipelines.
  • Lead select analytics projects depending on team need – projects may include product analytics (how frequently are users interacting with a new software feature?), clinical analytics (what is the most common diagnostic finding in patients implanted with a monitor for suspected atrial fibrillation?) or business analytics (what are the companies fastest growing revenue drivers in terms of new products, features, and services?)
  • Troubleshoot issues with automated reports.
  • Contribute to team documentation.
  • React to stakeholders needs in a timely manner (typically within a day or sooner).
  • Recognize and troubleshoot reporting issues with urgency (also within a day).
  • Manage at least 1-2 longer term projects in addition to the daily stakeholder management and troubleshooting.

What Makes You a Great Fit.

  • Motivated; You find what Murj does in the cardiac device space interesting and exciting. You have a passion for data analytics and are driven to use it to progress Murj’s impact on patients and providers.
  • Collaborative; You are comfortable working independently, but even so, you always engage teammates for help or feedback to ensure your work fits into the broader team vision.
  • Adaptable; Murj is a small company seeking to make an increasingly large impact on the cardiac industry. As we scale, we often find ourselves pivoting as the path becomes clearer. Team members that can operate well without a rigid structure, and that are open to change, will thrive here.

What You Bring.

  • Experience transforming large datasets into insights, ideally including use of a visualization platform (e.g. BI platforms like Tableau, Looker, Power BI). Should be able to speak to academic or professional experiences leveraging these skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL (would consider candidates with experience with other programming languages, if they have at least intermediate proficiency).
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. analytics, statistics, computer science, data science), or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves.

  • Experience in design, especially as it pertains to data visualization.

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days).

  • You are able to independently address at least half of incoming questions and requests from customers or internal stakeholders asking for ad hoc data pulls.
  • You have become familiar with a stakeholder group at Murj and worked with them to build out a new report that informs and/or streamlines one of their processes.

Travel expectations: 0%: No travel required.
