Position Overview

MxD is seeking a Government Engagement Associate for activities managed within the Government Engagement team.  The Government Engagement team is charged with the development and management of government stakeholder relationships, including federal, state, and local agencies and officials,and the execution of day-to-day activities for MxD’s government initiatives critical to advancing the Institute’s mission. The responsibilities of this role include responding to government requests, supporting virtual and in-person programs, government and policy research, process creation and implementation, and other programmatic support as required. Additionally, the Government Engagement Associate will be responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of government funding proposals from pre-solicitation to post-submission activities. Working cross-functionally with team members from different departments and functions, this position will support our federal grant applications, including proposal writing, in topic areas such as cybersecurity, workforce development, and prevalent Industry 4.0.  

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Strategically balance multiple internal and external requests, articulate trade-offs for competing priorities, and appropriately identify and escalate issues to ensure delivery of high-value project deliverables
  • Utilize effective project and program management skills to coordinate and organize project objectives, timelines, deliverables, team accountability, and communication
  • Support select government stakeholder meetings in coordination with key internal teams
  • Lead proposal efforts of various complexity, ranging from $2M - $25M opportunities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of government proposals, from pre-solicitation to post-submission activities
  • Lead proposal writing, editing, and rewriting efforts to ensure content clarity, compliance, and consistency that effectively communicate the organization's objectives and programs
  • Develop and maintain a library of proposal assets and related documentation to optimize the proposal process
  • Assist with ad hoc organizational initiatives and duties as needed

 Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in or relevant work experience in Political Science, Government Relations, or similar discipline
  • Minimum three years of program, project, and/or government engagement experience
  • Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to understand and communicate a wide range of technical concepts and topics, in a compelling, persuasive manner
  • Excellent technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft clear and persuasive proposals
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in handling multiple projects concurrently and working cross-functionally
  • Hands-on, team-oriented, and committed to the advancement of manufacturing technologies in the U.S. and comfortability in a public-facing environment
  • Ability for some travel
  • Proficiency with MS Office, CRM software (e.g., HubSpot) and familiarity with project management software (e.g., Monday.com)
  • Ability and desire to work in a highly dynamic and mission-driven environment
  • Excellent ability to communicate clearly and interact expertly with executive-level and stakeholders and government officials
