Lead, Product Designer

Remote - US

At MyFitnessPal, we believe good health starts with what you eat. We provide tools, resources and support to enable users to reach their health goals.

The MyFitnessPal Design Team fosters an experience-first culture, crafting intuitive user journeys that empower healthier lives. Collaborating across teams, we transform user insights into innovative, impactful designs for mobile and web platforms. Driven by a deep understanding of our users, we advocate for their needs to shape meaningful experiences that make health and fitness more accessible and rewarding.

As a Lead Product Designer, you are a proactive problem solver and holistic thinker who leads through ambiguity and drives strategy across initiatives and domains. You influence the Product org as a whole. You deliver meaningful impact in unknown problem spaces by bringing structure to complex problems, making thoughtful tradeoffs, and leading cross-functional teams toward shared goals. Your impact extends beyond your squad, shaping org priorities and contributing to the overall quality of the MyFitnessPal experience.

You’ll apply this leadership to a highly visible, high-leverage surface at the center of the product. We’re reimagining how members begin and continue their journeys, and you’ll have significant influence over that vision and how it takes shape over time. You’ll connect work across teams, translate research and data into direction, and raise the quality bar across the product.

What you’ll be doing:

Lead the reimagining of MyFitnessPal’s front door—the daily starting point that ties our most critical experiences together. This is a highly visible, high-leverage surface with outsized impact on where the product goes next. You’ll help shape the vision, explore boldly, and turn promising ideas into scalable product.

  • Influence the vision and design strategy for the entry experience, aligning outcomes and success signals with Product, Engineering, Research, Data Science, and Content Design
  • Turn that direction into staged designs and phased experiments, shaping the hypotheses and success metrics—while balancing speed and quality
  • Explore widely, then converge with narrative prototypes and lightweight experiments; pressure-test assumptions and synthesize learnings into a clear direction
  • Connect the ecosystem: design how guidance, logging, insights, and motivation come together so members feel progress from first touch
  • Lead with research and data: shape learning plans, run qualitative and quantitative studies, and instrument experiments that move engagement, retention, and subscriptions
  • Create scalable frameworks and patterns that raise consistency and quality across iOS, Android, and web while advancing our design system and accessibility
  • Anticipate dependencies and risks across squads; make tradeoffs transparent and adjust plans as evidence emerges
  • Facilitate alignment at scale: drive critiques, working sessions, and decision forums that keep multiple teams moving in the same direction
  • Mentor designers through coaching and modeling strong craft and storytelling; help establish rituals that improve collaboration and speed

Qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • 6-8+ years in consumer-facing digital product design (mobile + web) with deep systems and interaction design expertise
  • Portfolio shows domain-level ownership, cross-team impact, scalable frameworks, and shipped work that improved business metrics at scale
  • Demonstrated ability to design and run learning plans (qual + quant), instrument experiments, and connect decisions to measurable outcomes (engagement, retention, subscriptions)
  • Proven track record of shaping cross-functional strategy, influencing roadmaps, and resolving ambiguous problems with clear, evidence-based direction
  • Excellent communicator: clear narratives, strong documentation, and the ability to guide leaders through complex decisions
  • Mentorship experience: leveling up designers through critique, coaching, and modeling best-in-class craft and storytelling
  • Fluent in Figma and modern prototyping tools with strong collaboration and file hygiene practices
  • Experience designing for iOS, Android, and responsive web; accessibility-minded
  • Comfortable in agile development with Product and Engineering; has partnered deeply with Content Design, Research, Data Science, and Legal/Compliance
  • Degree in Design, HCI, or related field—or equivalent practical experience

Bonus points

  • Practice using AI in the design process (e.g., research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, content, QA).
  • Experience in health, wellness, or behavior-change products.

Values you’ll model

  • Be Kind and Care — build with empathy; assume positive intent; support teammates and members.
  • Live Good Health — champion healthy habits and balance in how we work and what we ship.
  • Be Data-Inspired — ground decisions in research and data; measure what matters.
  • Champion Change — lean into ambiguity; iterate, learn, and improve continuously.
  • Leave it Better than You Found It — raise quality, clarify systems, and document as you go.
  • Make It Happen — bias to action; deliver impact with craft and accountability.

Note: To be considered, you must provide a link to an online portfolio (please include password).

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
