Are you ready to transform the future of food? At MyForest Foods, we are pioneers in vertical farming, cultivating mycelium to create large structures that resemble whole cuts of meat in just 12 days. These meaty “cuts” are then sliced and seasoned to perfection with a traditional brine recipe. Our flagship product, MyBacon®, is leading the charge in mycelium-based meatless alternatives.
Be a Vital Part of Our Groundbreaking Operations!
In this role, you will be at the heart of our production process, performing essential tasks such as preparing and producing samples, transporting raw materials, processing materials, and packaging finished samples for shipping.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Package & Transport: Handle raw materials and finished samples, ensuring they are stored and shipped correctly
- Process & Produce: Utilize industrial kitchen equipment to transform raw materials into top-quality samples
- Scale Production: Increase production capacity as needed to meet growing demand
- Inventory & Procurement: Manage and procure materials and ingredients, keeping track of inventory
- Culinary Events: Host culinary events and collaborate with the team to enhance our production environment and test kitchen
- Food Safety: Comply with and improve the Food Safety Plan, ensuring a safe workplace for all
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members, share ideas, and recommend improvements
- Ad-hoc Duties: Take on additional projects and duties as needed to support the business
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:
- Experience: Background in food production, preferably with produce and/or vegetarian products in a culinary or manufacturing environment
- Industrial Kitchen Skills: Comfortable using industrial kitchen equipment and working in such environments
- Passion for Alternatives: Excited about the meat alternative market, with an ability to compare traditional and alternative meat products. Flexitarians are a great fit!
- Safety & Quality: Strong emphasis on quality control, cleanliness, and safe practices
- Communication & Teamwork: Good verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in suggesting and receiving feedback
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Google Apps and Slack, with moderate arithmetic skills
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, squat, handle objects, talk, hear, reach, and lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly in a moderate to loud industrial kitchen environment
- Certifications: ServSafe and/or HACCP/HARPC certifications preferred
Green Island, NY starting Pay range: $18.00/hr to $22.00/hr, based on skills and experience
