The Accounting Intern will assist the accounting department with various tasks, providing support to the Accounting Manager and gaining practical experience in financial operations. This internship offers exposure to different aspects of accounting, including financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and
Responsibilities
- Categorizing transactions and maintaining accurate financial records using accounting software (NetSuite)
- Assisting with accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate entries.
- Performing bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations.
- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets (e.g., balance sheets, income statements).
- Helping with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintaining general ledger accounts and posting journal entries.
- Analyzing financial data and identifying discrepancies.
- Participating in audits and assisting in the preparation of audit documentation.
- Assisting with compliance reporting and ensuring adherence to accounting principles and regulations (e.g., GAAP).
- Performing administrative duties such as data entry, filing, and organizing financial documents.
- Responding to audit requests and supporting other accounting projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (strong spreadsheet skills are crucial).
- Familiarity with other Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint).
- Understanding of GAAP accounting
- Meticulous and accurate in handling financial information.
- Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain financial information clearly.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with different departments.
New York Pay Range
$16 - $20 USD
