Specialty Care Manager (Maternal Health)

Remote, United States

About Us:

The United States has the poorest maternal and birth outcomes of all developed countries with the underserved, Black, Brown, Indigenous communities disproportionately affected. Nadia Care is working to drastically change the experience of affected communities by reimagining how we deliver meaningful and compassionate care to expectant moms.

Nadia Care’s mission is to improve pregnancy, birth and the postpartum journey for women and their families by reimagining how maternity care is delivered. Our team is focused on building trust-based engagement and wrap-around support for expectant moms at home, in person and virtually to ensure they have all the social support they need for a successful and joyful pregnancy journey. We help our members with care navigation, doula support, assistance with lactation, nutrition, housing, transportation and a wide range of other needs. We leverage technology to support our virtual engagement that allows us to meet all our moms where they are.

We ensure that our members have trusted sources for support, resources, and information throughout their pregnancy, delivery and well into postpartum. Nadia Care does not replace the primary obstetrician or doctor’s relationships. Instead, we support expectant mothers with all other health-related social needs not typically available through their doctors’ offices.

Our Values:

  • Empathy is at the heart of everything we do. We must always center the experiences of the mothers and families we serve, as well as support and uplift one another.
  • Collaboration is what makes us stronger. We achieve the greatest impact when we work together, share knowledge, and elevate each other’s strengths.
  • Resilience reflects our ability to push through challenges, adapt in a fast-changing environment, and remain committed to our mission no matter the obstacles.

The Role:

As the Specialty Care Manager, you are the operational anchor and cross-functional owner for all contracted specialty care roles across Nadia Care, including Doulas, Registered Dietitians (RDs), and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs). Sitting within Care Operations, this role directly oversees all specialists and contractors across all regions simultaneously, driving end-to-end coordination, roster availability, panel matching, compliance audit trails, contractor administrative accountability, and onboarding. Clinical scope-of-practice and quality-of-care concerns are escalated directly to Regional Managers and Clinical Leadership.

You serve as the operational liaison connecting members to birth support, ensuring real-time labor activation, enforcing documentation standards, partnering with Licensing, Credentialing & Enrollment, and leading candidate interviews for all incoming specialists.

Key Responsibilities

Contractor Performance, Charting & Accountability

  • Documentation & SLA Enforcement: Track visit completion, labor attendance, and charting timelines across all contracted specialists (Doulas, RDs, IBCLCs).
  • Charting Audits: Conduct routine charting and documentation audits across platform systems (e.g., Athena, Spruce, Acuity). Follow up on incomplete charts, overdue visit notes, or missing documentation.
  • Performance Escalation: Identify, document, and escalate contractor administrative non-compliance, missed labor events, or boundary violations to the Senior Manager of Care Operations, while routing clinical scope-of-practice or quality-of-care issues directly to Regional Managers and Clinical Leadership.
  • Invoice Review & Contract Compliance: Perform regular invoice review against active contracts to verify contractor billing accuracy, confirm rate adherence, and enforce compliance with contracted service terms.

LCE Credentialing Support & Roster Compliance (Doulas, RDs, IBCLCs)

  • LCE Liaison: Function as the primary operational interface with the Licensing, Credentialing & Enrollment (LCE) department.
  • Document Collection: Serve as the primary document collector for LCE credentialing accuracy, actively tracking, collecting, and maintaining up-to-date credentialing artifacts (licenses, certifications, liability insurance, background checks) from all contracted Doulas, RDs, and IBCLCs prior to expiration.
  • Roster Integrity: Maintain an accurate, audit-ready credentialing and payer-approval status tracker across all contract specialists to ensure no contractor provides unbillable or uncredentialed care.

Recruitment, Interviewing & Event Representation

  • Contractor Interviewer: Lead interviews for incoming Doula, Registered Dietitian, and Lactation Consultant candidates, evaluating prospective contract applicants for operational fit, communication skills, and adherence to clinical scope boundaries.
  • Community Recruitment Events: Represent Nadia Care at community, collective, or regional recruitment events (in-person or virtual) as needed to support doula and specialist pipeline growth.
  • Collective Partner Engagement: Maintain collaborative, accountability-driven relationships with regional doula collectives and specialty contractor networks.

Cross-Functional Care Team Alignment

  • Interdisciplinary Sync: Partner closely with Regional Managers, Maternity Navigators, Care Coordinators, and RNs to ensure specialty care (birth support, nutrition, lactation) integrates smoothly into broader member care plans.
  • Data & Capacity Reporting: Produce monthly panel summaries detailing active assignments, upcoming delivery windows, credentialing renewals, and contractor capacity constraints.
  • Enablement & Ops Alignment: Partner closely with onboarding, enablement, and care delivery teams to ensure contractor workflows, operational updates, and training materials remain fully synchronized.
  • Recruitment & Credentialing Partnership: Partner directly with Credentialing and Provider Enrollments Manager and the Talent Acquisition team to streamline specialist hiring, onboarding, and compliance.

Member Birth Support & Active Labor Coordination (Doulas)

  • Matching & Enrollment: Coordinate doula assignments for all opted-in members, ensuring every member has a primary and confirmed backup doula matched prior to 30 weeks gestation.
  • Member Onboarding: Lead member-facing communication regarding birth support expectations, visit cadences (prenatal, labor, postpartum), and labor activation protocols.
  • Active Labor On-Call Coverage: Participate in a structured, team-backed rotation for live labor events to confirm doula dispatch, manage backup handoffs, and resolve real-time coverage bottlenecks.
  • Delivery Window Tracking: Maintain a real-time, accurate delivery tracker across the active member panel; review upcoming due dates weekly and proactively redistribute assignments to prevent clustering gaps.

Qualifications

  • Professional Experience: At least 3-5 years handling care coordination, maternal health operations, or contractor panel administration across multiple care verticals (Doulas, Registered Dietitians, IBCLCs), with strong autonomous startup experience, organizational skills, and operational strength. A specific clinical specialty background is not required, though prior experience working alongside clinical disciplines is a plus.
  • Systems & EHR Proficiency: High fluency with digital care systems and platforms (e.g., Athena Health, Spruce, Acuity, Slack, Google Workspace).
  • Structured On-Call Rotation: Willingness and ability to participate in a structured, team-backed on-call rotation outside standard business hours for active labor triage and coverage emergencies.
  • Interviewing & Evaluation Skills: Demonstrated experience evaluating contractor candidates and conducting structured interviews.
  • Detail-Oriented: Highly organized with strong communication skills to hold independent contractors accountable to administrative, charting, credentialing, and SLA standards, while appropriately routing clinical quality-of-care matters to Regional Managers and Clinical Leadership.
  • Startup Flexibility: Comfortable with operational ambiguity, rapid scaling, and wearing multiple hats as roles and responsibilities may shift to meet the evolving needs of a hypergrowth startup.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus given the member populations served across our markets.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
