Position Summary:

Natera is a global leader in cell-free DNA testing, supporting oncology, women’s health, and organ health. Our goal in R&D operations data science is to support R&D activities at Natera through data analytics and development of tools to optimize workflows and processes. As a data analytics manager, you will be at the forefront of building and expanding a high-performing analytics team and play a pivotal role in transforming complex datasets into actionable insights that directly impact R&D operational efficiency. In this leadership role, you will have the opportunity to shape the direction of the team, implement best practices, and leverage cutting-edge tools and technologies to deliver high-quality, scalable analytics solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Team Development & Growth: Lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new analytics team members, building a diverse, high-performance team. Provide ongoing mentorship, coaching and career development to foster team members’ growth, both technically and professionally

  • Building & Scaling the Analytics Function: Take ownership of expanding the data analytics capabilities within the organization. Design and implement frameworks, processes, and best practices to ensure that the analytics team is set up for success. Lead the team in building scalable data pipelines, reports, and dashboards that can evolve with growing needs

  • Data-Driven Insights & Decision Support: Lead the team in delivering actionable insights through advanced data analytics and statistical modeling. Develop analytics solutions that address critical business needs and support key decisions across cross-functional stakeholders

  • Analytics Strategy & Execution: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges and define data analytics requirements. Own the end-to-end execution of analytics projects–from gathering requirements, designing analytical models, and developing data pipelines, to delivering insights and recommendations to stakeholders

  • Reporting & Visualization: Oversee the design and deployment of analytical dashboards and reports using AWS QuickSight. Ensure that data visualizations are clear, impactful, and accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Data Governance & Quality: Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of data being used for analytics and provided to stakeholders. Oversee the implementation of best practices for data governance, data quality, and documentation.

  • Project Management & Delivery: Manage data analytics projects using Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA. Define project scopes, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business priorities. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on progress, risks, and results.

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with business leaders and other functional teams to understand data needs, translate business quotations into analytical solutions, and present findings in a clear and actionable manner. Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand their objectives and deliver value-driven insights.

  • Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for process optimization, proposing new tools and technologies, and encouraging the adoption of innovative solutions within the team. Regularly review and refine analytics workflows to enhance efficiency, scalability, and quality.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in a quantitative field, PhD a plus

  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or management role

  • Proven track record of successfully building and scaling data analytics teams, from recruitment to team development and performance management

  • Strong expertise in SQL for querying large datasets and designing complex data models

  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and statistical modeling

  • Extensive experience with dbt for data modeling and transformations

  • Expertise in using analytics and reporting tools, such as AWS QuickSight or Power BI to communicate data insights effectively

  • Experience in managing data analytics projects using Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to recruit, mentor, and grow a data analytics team

  • Expertise in managing data pipelines, from raw data collection to reporting and visualization, ensuring consistency and high data quality

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Deep knowledge of data governance, data quality standards, and best practices for managing large datasets

  • Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and deliver high-quality results on time in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience in cloud data platforms, particularly Snowflake and/or Redshift, and understanding how they integrate with analytics tools and platforms

  • Domain expertise in biotech, healthcare, or pharmaceutical industries preferred

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
