Tax Manager
TAX MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Manages overall process of indirect taxes, including sales & use tax, VAT, excise taxes and property taxes to ensure compliance with tax laws.
- Assists with other tax matters as needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates extensive technical skills in a wide range of multistate sales and use tax matters, including the following: FAS 5, audits, tax planning, consulting, compliance, automation, mergers and acquisitions, controversy and audit defense;
- Ability to research and advise, and propose solution on multiple state and federal tax matters;
- Management and oversight of Sales/Use Tax software applications, including implementation, process management for such applications as needed;
- Utilizing digitization tools to reduce hours and optimization;
- Interaction with any state and federal authorities, including formal inquiries with government authorities, etc;
- Partner with Finance and Accounting department to analyze and document tax accounting matters;
- Maintain relevant knowledge of tax laws;
- Support the accurate and timely completion of the Monthly, Quarterly & Annual Tax Provision, and Indirect Tax Returns;
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and preparers on tax strategies and compliance matters;
- Monitor third-party preparers and consultants’ compliance;
- Assist with special projects, including input and advice on day-to-day tax matters;
- Prepare tax payable, provision, account reconciliations and prepare JE for Indirect Tax;
- Engage with GL team for any tax related adjustments and month-end/quarter close;
- Maintaining and development of controls over the indirect tax process for SOX compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required;
- Minimum of 5 years tax compliance experience is required;
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in California is highly desired;
- Big 4 Public Accounting experience is highly desired.
- Oracle experience
- Strong Excel skills
