Sr Product Manager, Results Interpretation and Reporting

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Sr. Product Manager is responsible for the entire software product lifecycle of the results, interpretation, and reporting (RIR) software platform for existing and new product lines like Horizon, Renasight, and Altera. This role requires understanding business processes, dependencies, and technical details to effectively lead the software development. The Product Manager will drive solutions and decisions, prioritize, translate, and document conclusions into detailed use cases and technical product requirements. They will also monitor product performance, evaluate and prioritize new features, and integrate them with existing components and processes. This position demands strategic thinking, strong execution, and cross-functional leadership.

 

FOCUS AREA:

Natera offers genetic risk assessment and diagnostic tests to patients through medical providers. These test kits are received, reviewed, and routed to laboratory testing facilities. Results and interpretation reports are delivered to the providers as the end product.  he individual in this position will need to understand the full breadth of RIR business processes while being able to dive deeply into the specifics of software products supporting data review, variant interpretation, clinical review, and reporting functional areas. He or she will need to drive alignment, innovation, and collaboration with various teams including Users, Stakeholders, Software Development and Quality. The product manager needs to have a focus on shared functionality and meeting business use cases across workflows and business units.

 

Ideal candidates have a background in life sciences and enterprise systems in a healthcare environment.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop product vision and execute the product roadmap for results, interpretation, and reporting software. 

  • Deliver clear technical product requirements based on user and system needs and operational limitations.

  • Maintain tracking of feature requests and prioritize those for development and release.

  • Develop quantitative product performance indicators, analyze and track performance data, and identify strategies for improvement across teams.

  • Effectively work with internal clinical and subject domain experts, R&D and software development teams

  • Create and maintain product documents and artifacts. PMs conduct VOC interviews, product demos, user testing, and market research as a means to test and validate product features, improve customer satisfaction, and improve efficiency and performance.

  • Create written, data-based arguments and presentations to achieve buy-in from stakeholders and facilitate better understanding and alignment.

  • Incorporate a focus on quality into product design, and work closely with development and software quality assurance, compliance and regulatory teams on product and process improvements.

  • Evangelize your products across the organization, drive integration and collaboration.

  • Become a subject matter expert on our software and create a shared understanding among business, clinical, and development teams - acting as liaison between teams and able to aid in tasks ranging from configuration to testing and support.

  • Provide internal and external stakeholders with the appropriate updates on progress, vision, product roadmap, etc.
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical or life science, statistics, engineering, or equivalent. Master’s degree or PhD preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in software product management. Scrum certification is a plus.

  • Experience with or building software for data review, knowledgebases, variant and clinical interpretation, clinical content management or reporting software is preferred.

  • Experience with developing software in a regulated environment (FDA, CLIA/CAP etc.) in the Life Sciences industry. 

  • Experience with AI or ML tools for life science applications is a plus

  • Experience building software with UI/UX components a plus

  • Experience building platform software using cloud technologies a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to collaborate on, lead and drive initiatives in a cross-functional team effectively

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Be able to forge alignment, communicate the “why” behind a decision, ask the right questions, and to describe technical complexities clearly and concisely to different audiences. Demonstrated experience influencing larger groups and leading a team in a successful project.

  • Highly organized with ability to multitask. Be able to break down large projects into granular milestones and track progress.

  • Very comfortable reading and writing technical documentation

  • Familiarity with Next Generation Sequencing is beneficial

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
