Lab Associate
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lab Associate plays a crucial role in supporting Research and Development laboratories. Their responsibilities include procuring, receiving, and organizing reagents and materials, as well as maintaining an accurate inventory of laboratory consumables. This position also involves fulfilling diverse requests from research personnel related to lab procedures and proactively addressing potential laboratory needs. This position also requires maintaining R&D safety programs to ensure the R&D lab environment and practice are in compliance with policy and regulations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate a clean, neat, and organized laboratory through routine lab clean-up events
- Manage laboratory supplies, reagents, and materials: order, receive, store, and verify receipt
- Prepare, aliquot, and stock reagents as needed
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures and programs to ensure a safe and compliant lab environment
- Conduct routine lab safety inspections
- Review and update R&D lab safety protocols
- Maintain records of inspection, training, incidents, near misses and other safety-related activities
- Work closely with EHS to ensure R&D personnel are properly trained
- Resolve safety issues/concerns in a timely manner
- Monitor satellite waste streams, including biohazardous and hazardous chemical waste, and dispose of them according to EHS guidelines
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor or manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in life-science or related field preferred
- 1 year of experience working in a laboratory environment

- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail

- Knowledge and experience with EHS and OSHA regulations and policies

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
