Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to join Natera’s Patient Experience (PX) Data Science & Analytics team. This role is critical to our mission of creating intelligent, adaptive systems that reduce friction in patient journeys, improve operational efficiency, and enable personalized experiences.
As a Senior BIE, you will partner closely with PX data science, operations, engineering, and leadership teams to design, build, and optimize scalable data infrastructure, reporting pipelines, and self-service analytics. You will drive high-impact initiatives that empower stakeholders with reliable, actionable insights and intuitive visual tools to improve patient engagement and streamline PX operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of robust data models, ETL pipelines, and dashboards to track patient experience performance.
- Build and maintain patient journey visualization tools that clearly map, support, and communication touchpoints to identify friction and optimize engagement.
- Translate analytical models into production-ready data workflows and reporting frameworks.
- Define, standardize, and maintain key PX metrics and data definitions, ensuring consistent reporting across the organization.
- Build and maintain scalable Snowflake and AWS-based BI solutions that support advanced analytics, forecasting, and experimentation.
- Partner with PX leaders to develop data-driven KPIs and operational scorecards for ongoing performance management.
- Proactively identify data gaps and improve data quality, governance, and accessibility.
- Mentor and coach junior BIEs, sharing best practices in data engineering, reporting, and analytics.
Core Qualifications
Basic Required:
- 5+ years of experience in BI, Data Engineering, or Analytics Engineering, with demonstrated impact in healthcare, operations, or enterprise platforms.
- Advanced SQL expertise with large-scale datasets in Snowflake, Redshift, or similar cloud warehouses.
- Proficiency in data modeling (Snowflake schema) and ETL pipeline development.
- Strong experience with modern BI tools (e.g., QuickSight, Power BI) and dashboard performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with AWS data ecosystem (S3, Lambda, Glue, etc.) or equivalent.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions and intuitive visualizations.
- Excellent communication and data storytelling skills, with proven ability to influence non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to mentor and uplift team members, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
Preferred:
- Experience building complex data journey analytics or visual tools in healthcare or customer experience contexts.
- Experience supporting A/B testing frameworks, experimentation platforms, or causal inference analysis.
- Familiarity with Python and advanced data transformations and workflow automation.
- Exposure to call center data platforms (Twilio, Salesforce) and healthcare operations data.
- Knowledge of data governance, cataloging, and metadata management best practices.
