Role Overview

Natera is seeking an Associate Sustainability Analyst to support the execution of our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, with a strong emphasis on sustainability reporting, data analysis, and project management.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a report-heavy environment, is comfortable owning complex datasets and disclosures, and has proven experience independently managing projects from start to finish. You should be able to drive work forward with minimal direction, coordinate across teams, and ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.

The right candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative, anticipates needs, and can confidently communicate insights to large and diverse audiences, including senior leadership.

This is a remote role, with periodic travel required to support on-site initiatives and cross-functional collaboration at Natera locations, primarily in San Carlos, CA and Austin, TX.


Key Responsibilities

GHG Accounting, Reporting & Climate Action

  • Support the collection, validation, and analysis of greenhouse gas emissions data (Scopes 1, 2, and 3)
  • Maintain and improve GHG inventory processes in alignment with leading frameworks (GHG Protocol, SBTi)
  • Contribute to ESG disclosures, including CDP, EcoVadis, and other frameworks
  • Own portions of reporting cycles, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and on-time delivery
  • Help identify and advance decarbonization initiatives aligned with company climate goals
  • Track regulatory developments (e.g., SEC climate disclosures) and support compliance readiness

Project Management & Execution (Core Focus)

  • Independently manage sustainability projects from scoping through execution and completion
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and stakeholder coordination strategies
  • Drive accountability across cross-functional partners and ensure milestones are met
  • Identify risks, remove blockers, and adjust plans to keep projects on track
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining attention to detail and quality
  • Apply structured approaches to support scalable and repeatable processes

Sustainability Reporting & Data Analytics

  • Support recurring ESG reporting cycles, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions
  • Work with large datasets, including data collection, validation, and analysis
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and presentations
  • Analyze trends and performance to inform strategy and improvements

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Present sustainability data and progress updates to internal teams, leadership, and external stakeholders
  • Support development of materials for executive leadership, Board updates, and investor discussions
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, facilities, procurement, HR, finance, and legal teams
  • Assist with ESG-related inquiries, including customer and investor requests

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Monitor ESG trends, reporting standards, and best practices
  • Identify opportunities to improve sustainability performance and reporting processes

Qualifications (Required)

  • 1–3 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental consulting, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline (or clear demonstrated interest in sustainability)
  • Experience with ESG reporting frameworks such as CDP and EcoVadis
  • Proven experience managing projects, including planning, execution, and delivery
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal oversight
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with large datasets
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Comfortable presenting to groups and communicating technical information clearly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of ownership and accountability
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to Natera sites (primarily San Carlos, CA and Austin, TX)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with GHG accounting methodologies (Scopes 1, 2, and 3)
  • Experience with sustainability data tools, dashboards, or reporting systems
  • Exposure to climate-related frameworks such as TCFD or SBTi

Compensation & Total Rewards 

This range reflects a good-faith estimate of the base pay we reasonably expect to offer at the time of  hire. Final compensation will vary based on experience, qualifications, and skills considerations.

This position is also eligible for additional compensation and benefits through Natera’s robust Total Rewards program, including:

Compensation Range

$31.60 - $39.50 USD
