Position Summary

Natera is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support key accounting operations, month-end close activities, fixed asset accounting, prepaid expense management, sales and use tax compliance, and financial reporting processes. This role will work cross-functionally with multiple departments and play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.

This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere within the United States while collaborating with a high-performing and dynamic finance team.

Primary Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Support monthly and quarterly financial statement close processes
  • Prepare assigned account reconciliations and perform detailed analysis to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare fluctuation analyses and provide clear explanations for financial trends and variances
  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Review, investigate, and correct accounting errors, inconsistencies, and reporting issues
  • Maintain and track financial statement close checklists and supporting schedules for SEC filings (10-Q and 10-K)
  • Participate in quarterly review procedures and annual external audits, responding to auditor requests and inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies
  • Proactively communicate accounting, financial reporting, or control issues to management

Fixed Assets & Prepaids

  • Maintain the fixed asset system and related depreciation schedules
  • Reconcile General Ledger to Subledger for fixed assets
  • Assess property, plant, and equipment for impairment indicators and perform impairment testing when required
  • Track capital expenditures against approved budgets and expenditure authorizations
  • Review invoices and purchase requisitions for appropriate coding
  • Identify prepaid expenses and ensure proper accounting treatment
  • Maintain prepaid schedules and prepare amortization journal entries
  • Prepare reconciliations for various asset accounts

Tax & Compliance Support

  • Assist with preparation and electronic filing of U.S. sales and use tax returns
  • Monitor and verify system-generated sales tax reports for accuracy
  • Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations related to sales and use tax accruals
  • Support audits, exposure analyses, refund analyses, and jurisdiction notices as assigned
  • Assist with development and maintenance of cost accounting processes and SOX 404(b) compliance initiatives

Cross-Functional Support

  • Provide financial and accounting support to internal stakeholders across the organization
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as needed
  • Collaborate with team members to improve efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence within the accounting function

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of general ledger accounting experience
  • Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, or related industries strongly preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong experience with General Ledger accounting processes
  • Experience with Oracle ERP systems preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace tools (Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Docs) preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and accountability
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Ability to work effectively under tight month-end close deadlines

Compensation & Total Rewards 

This range reflects a good-faith estimate of the base pay we reasonably expect to offer at the time of  hire. Final compensation will vary based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

This position is also eligible for additional compensation and benefits through Natera’s robust Total Rewards program, including:

Compensation Range

$90,000 - $112,500 USD
