The Identity and Access Management Intern role provides hands-on experience where you will assist in designing, implementing and supporting enterprise-level IT Security systems to protect National Life Group’s network and data from cyber-attacks. You will gain exposure to industry-leading identity management tools, involvement in Privileged Access Management protocols, and developing Least Privileged security models while working alongside experienced analysts who are dedicated to protecting critical systems and data. This internship offers the opportunity to develop practical skills, contribute to active operations, and build a foundation for a future career in cybersecurity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate with seasoned professionals in Identity Access Management, security monitoring, engineering and architecture. You will help us oversee our enterprise-level Identity Management environment, complete daily analysis tasks and participate in efforts to mature our Identity solutions.

Monitor, investigate, and respond to identity management alerts and business access issues.
Assist in identifying root causes and recommending remediation steps for role access issues.
Participate in identity role analysis and improvements to meet business objectives.
Contribute to key identity documentation, reporting, and process improvement efforts.
Participate in planning, executing and managing GRC activities in support of compliance requirements.
Stay current on emerging threats and cybersecurity trends to help strengthen our NLG defenses.

Minimum Qualifications

Pursuing degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
Strong interest in cybersecurity operations, identity management and Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC).
Familiarity with Security and GRC concepts (such as Least-Privileged, Just-in-time, RBAC, Risk Based Permissions) and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
Sharp analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in Information Technology (such as software/hardware support) is a plus.
Scripting or programming language (e.g. PowerShell, Python) is a plus.

Base Pay Range. The base pay range for this position is the range National Life reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors, including: prior experience and job-related knowledge; education, training and certificates; current business needs; and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.

Additional Compensation and Benefits. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in National Life’s discretionary annual incentive programs, subject to the rules governing such programs. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and National Life reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
